On the 28th February 2020 a North London four piece hailing as Happy Science made up of a collection of Producers, Mix Engineers and Multi-Instrumentalist Songwriters released the first taste of whats to come from this exciting new innovation in “alternative rock music”. They released their aptly named “An Introduction to……Happy Science which is evidently inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s famous “Definition of Happiness” interview.

The music itself is complex and intricate conversely being both dark and oppressing in parts yet at the same time somewhat psychedelic and dreamy. With the opening chords of a light pop tune echoing into the loud fuzzing of distorted guitars all interwoven with spoken words and hypnotic, chanting vocals: there’s undoubtedly a divine clash of genres between, Indie, Pop and Post-Punk which seamlessly blend together in what we believe, could well be a new and exciting chapter in music history.

Happy Science say that the inspiration for their unique sound is “drawn from outside the boundaries“. The band has cited Sonic Youth, The Velvet Underground, Can, NEU! Kraftwork, Blondie, The Last Poets and Pixies as their musical inspirations and further state that a diverse range of outside everyday influences, from political change to art inspires them in their songwriting creations.

It would seem that we’re not the only ones who are excited by this brand new offering of next level musical creativeness with some great quotes already coming through for “An Introduction to ….” such as :-

“Really cool!”–George Godfrey (Radio X)

“Diggin’ ‘An Introduction To…’ Reminds me of KLF”–Sam Chamberlaine (GIITTV / 1883)

“I love it”–Rhys Downing (Mark Ronson, Peter Doherty, Bruno Mars)

“I like it… reminds me of Graham Coxon”–Jon Bills (The Bills Agency)

Happy Science are wasting no time in getting themselves out there and we are told that they already have several live gigs lined up with announcements being made soon!! In the meantime, the Band have just announced that they are to play their first live date at the end of this month in Trinity – Harrow in aid of the Mind charity. See full details below.
