SEROTONIN

Hailing from the seaside town Southend-on-Sea, San Quentin are a real working class band looking to take over the scene with their fast paced anthems and high octane live performances. Tipped by This Feeling as “Ones to Watch 2023”, San Quentin came to be when songwriter Liam Cass & singer Owen Eves got together with drummer Luke Johns & bassist Nick Keep in 2019. Dan Ridgwell later joined as the lead guitarist in 2020 to complete the line-up.

The band name was inspired by the iconic album “Johnny Cash – San Quentin Prison“. Johnny Cash being a real inspiration to Liam because of the working class, story telling songs and rebel attitude.

Ready for a new challenge, San Quentin then went on to play their debut London headline show at the infamous The Water Rats, which sold out weeks in advance. Festival season saw the band make their major festival debut at the Isle of Wight Festival, followed by Y Not Festival. The year ended with the boys heading off on their first UK tour, playing 6 shows & giving the crowds something to remember. The year ended on a high with a second sold out hometown show & the band’s first national radio support coming from John Kennedy on Radio X.

2022 was a massive year for the band that kicked off with them being tipped by BBC introducing as “Ones to Watch” followed shortly thereafter by a sold out 400 capacity hometown show which further cemented the band’s status.

The Southend On Sea indie rockers are now back with their latest offering ‘Serotonin’.

Serotonin’ is without question the track that we have been waiting for from this band… It’s an absolute anthem that’s been unleashed in all its heavy guitar riff laden rapturous glory .

It is perhaps a slight change of direction for the band who are known for their previous synth & keys focused sounds, with this time the emphasis being most definitely more on those fuzzing electric guitar riffs and stomping drum beats.

In essence it’s a track that delivers exactly what it promises; ‘Serotonin” it’s a direct musical hit to the senses of the feel-good hormone pulsating through your body and into your brain.

The inspiration for Serotonin originated from a memorable encounter when band member Liam overheard a stranger say “Has anyone got a spare bit of serotonin I can borrow?” This poignant one-liner sparked his creative imagination, & the song naturally unfolded from there.

We invite you to immerse yourself in the experience of Serotonin. Let your ears revel in its driving melodies & energetic instrumentation.” – San Quentin

San Quentin are most definitely a band who are living up to their “ones to watch” status. They’ve proved themselves as worthy contenders for one of the hottest bands around right now.
