SET TO RELEASE FOURTH ALBUM

Joint frontman Peter Doherty from the band has confirmed that The Libertines have finished recording their fourth album and stated it will be called “All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade” as a nod to their HQ, The Albion Rooms in Margate which is situated on the Eastern Esplanade there.

The upcoming LP will be their first release since the 2015 release of ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’, which charted at number 3 in the UK. Since then, The Libertines have been busy with their rock n roll hotel and recording studios in Margate, The Albion Rooms, Carl Barat’s new alternative nightclub also in the town; ‘Justines’, have been touring the world on an almost continuous tour as well as the recent arrival of Peter’s new baby with his wife Katia deVidas.

In a previous interview with The Telegraph, Doherty said the title of the new album is a reference to the location of their hotel The Albion Rooms in Margate. However, he confirmed the songs aren’t about the premises. “God. No. That would be awful. It’s themed around… Inadvertently or not, some of the songs are set in Margate so… y’know actually it is about the hotel in a way. We wrote quite a few of the songs there.

Peter further hinted that the band plan to release singles from the album in the not too distant future with the full album to be released at the start of 2024.
