GETAWAY CAR

Abbey Moon are a London based four piece alt indie rock band featuring – Niall, Mick, Jack and Marco; fed up with political posturing in previous ventures, the four came together to write music that brings the focus back to the melody and lyrics that they all love as well as making music that carries a message.

The band have recently released their second single, ‘Getaway Car’ on the 13th September.

Getaway Car’ is at first listen very clever in its delivery as its story telling lyricism depicts the tale of a man in a pub telling tall tales of an adventurous life.

Musically the track starts off with jingly hooks, tinkling melodies and swinging drum beats, these belie the nature of lyrics however with the opening lines of “the glass is half empty, well it’s never been full”… depicting the life story of the eternal protagonist’s “tall tales of glory, he can half tell a story” ….”nursing a Foster’s top” before launching into the catchy chorus hook lines.

Niall’s deep and almost snarling vocals offset and clash in a most pleasing manner with the happy-go-lucky harmony of the instrumentals, to bring about a new richer depth, a layering of sonics and sounds to the track. It’s a tapestry of woven elements all coming into play to result in a brilliantly orchestrated and thought provoking track.

The final chorus hook will have you singing along to the very last note , inviting you to seize the moment and make sure you take those opportunities when they come your way rather than sitting in a pub in years to come telling tales of what might of been.

“Get a getaway car, leave the engine running , Get a getaway car, got ambition burning , Get a getaway car, leave the engine running, Get a getaway car, find out who you really are, who you really are…who you really are…who you really are…who you really are……”

The band have said of the new single

Getaway Car” paints a vivid picture of a man in a local pub, spinning tales of breaking free from the mundane, repetitive small-town life. It’s an ode to escape and the longing for adventure that resides in all of us.

The track draws inspiration from musical legends like The La’s, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Smiths, and Oasis, blending their influence into a genre-blurring masterpiece. A small reggae beat in the breakdown adds a unique twist, infusing the song with a vibrant energy that’s hard to resist.

Produced by Michael Smith (Wolf Alice, Elvis Costello), “Getaway Car” boasts a top-notch pedigree. It’s a sonic journey that invites you to hit the road, embrace the open horizon, and revel in the thrill of breaking free.

Only two singles in and Abbey Moon are already finding their music featured on national radio with the likes of John Kennedy who has cited them as having “echoes of early Creation Records” – now that can’t be a bad thing!
