Mosaic – Broken Home

This is some riotous rock from Bristol based trio Mosaic, who are tackling the topic of a broken relationship. The cover of the single shows a couple smiling standing outside their home hand in hand. It’s very much the “perfect image”, but then it’s ripped up right down the middle. It reminds me of “I Need A Little Time” by The Beautiful South concept wise. But this is a punk rock song with a lot of heavy hitting. There’s a lot of indecision in the lyrics- whether to go back and start again or just move on… the main question is whether they’re wasting time to patch up a bad situation.

Instrument and arrangement wise it’s a big sound, there’s some stops and starts and don’t think I didn’t notice the kick rolls – does the drummer have a metal leaning?

Possibly…

‘Broken Home’ is the follow up to their recent single ‘R U OK?’ which received multiple plays across Amazing Radio, JAXX Radio and BCFM amongst others as well as being the band’s first song to break 10k streams on Spotify. It tells the story of a struggling relationship. How going through the motions becomes second nature even when it’s mentally draining. Leading to the question “are we just wasting our time, fixing our broken home?”.

Mosaic have had a busy 12 months from sold out headline shows, playing shows around the UK to writing and recording a string of upcoming songs, the next 12 months are going to be some of the most exciting in Mosaic’s history. With multiple releases scheduled, plus a May 2024 date supporting Scouting for Girls and Toploader in Bristol.

Mosaic are Jared McLean (L Vocals/Guitar), Chris Brain (Bass/B Vocals), Victor Minkov (Drums/B Vocals).
