“‘Shots Fired Tonight’ has got a certain nostalgic nod to it, but at the same time being something entirely fresh and new which makes it altogether an exciting listen.”

Jackson Lucitt is a singer/songwriter from Port Talbot, South Wales. He started his career in the music industry by first being a band manager, promoter and then tour manager of his own company Shiny Vinyl Presents. After realising a life long dream of visiting Nashville, Tennessee Jackson decided on becoming a performing artist himself by turning his poetry stories of heroes and villains, triumphs and cautionary tales into songs. He says that one of the many benefits of growing up in a small, blue-collar, steel town is there is no shortage of colourful characters to take inspiration from.
Jackson’s music is raw and emotional taking influence from the likes of Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, The Smiths, and Jake Bugg. Combining elements of Brit-pop from his home roots mixed with Americana from his travels, Jackson brings a unique perspective and voice to the indie-folk scene. Often merging serious subjects in his lyrics with upbeat melodies, Jackson’s performances are simultaneously relatable and engaging, often evoking a crowd chorus.
Previous single releases of ‘Text Back Blues’, ‘More Than Thieves’ and ‘Save our Steel’ tell stories of the life and times of a working class man who has often faced hardships, but how he has battled through and carried on despite it all because that’s what you have to do to survive.
Jackson’s latest single release ‘Shots Fired Tonight’ is being released today Friday 1st March to coincide with his proud Welsh heritage on St. David’s Day.
‘Shots Fired Tonight’ starts of with a an eerily echoing guitar putting us in mind of a spaghetti western scene, when Jackson’s now unmistakable voice kicks in coupled with some fast paced swinging drum beats and harmonious backing vocals. Its a very bluesy number and its easy to detect those influences that inspire Jackson on this track. The chorus lines of ‘Shots Fired Tonight’ are immediately catchy and I defy you not be singing along from first listen.
