2 mins and 40 seconds of pure delight flipping between genres with great ease from rock to hip-hop styles to synth dance beats and back to indie, there’s something for everyone with this track

Following the release of their sensational debut EP Rubik’s Cube in 2022, Dictator took a bit of time out to reflect and perfect their sound and following the April release of ‘Stan Smith’ we’re pleased to say that the the West Lothian four piece are now back with their second release of the year, ‘Almost Famous’.

Almost Famous‘ is 2 minutes and 40 second’s of pure delight flipping between genres with great ease from rock to hip-hop styles to synth dance beats and back to indie, there’s something for everyone and this track is sure to go down a storm when performed live this summer at the Isle of Wight and Truck Festivals.

Lyrically there’s many a sing-a-long chanting chorus hook, which overall gives the track that feel-good element to it. “So hold my wine while I blow your mind” portrays a certain cheeky swagger to the track for which this band have become known.

Its short and sweet, but certainly packs a punch for all the right reasons.

It’s the epitome of getting caught up in your own hype” explains Dictator frontman Michael Campbell “It’s a self deprecating look at what being a rock star is supposedly all about and a challenge to it, a reminder of how things could have panned out if we weren’t so lucky to be miserable failures in our own endeavours to be the best.”
