TeeTee is a London based DJ who loves to be surprised and excited by music. This comes through in her mixes which traverse through Acid House, Techno, Donk and loads more. There is no typical TeeTee mix, but they are filled with jump-up tracks, unexpected breaks and a sheer desire to have fun. Her dynamic style of producing and mixing has earned her plays from BBC Introducing and TeeTee is now a regular on the festival circuit, picking up new fans as she goes.

TeeTee’s love of dance music began from a young age by going on to YouTube and listening to bassy mixes from the likes of UKF, where she then began migrating into Jungle and Drum & Bass. When she later moved to London TeeTee asked a few friends to show her how to mix and her obsession grew.

‘I just asked one of them if they could show me how to use a decks one day.
And then I locked myself up in a studio and I just played around with it for a while and it was awful, but I managed to do something and then I started to get really excited about the progress that I was making.’

Only three months later, TeeTee, was playing her first live set at a function event and sees that set as an important step in becoming fearless when playing in front of others.

‘It was in Mayfair, I think it was somewhere like that and yeah, it was just for a friend. I just played for like an hour.Pretty tech housey kind of vibe because yeah, it was a function gig. But I think it really helped me having a gig so early on, because then I wasn’t scared about making mistakes. Mistakes first of all and being in front of people while doing it.’

As her confidence grew, thanks in part to securing a set at Aaja in Deptford, TeeTee began posting her stuff on Instagramand was almost instantly praised over message by EC2A and Dr Dubplate, where she was later signed to a USB release. This helped raise her profile even more and propel TeeTeeinto bigger clubs in London, such as XOYO and also a collaboration with Electro Underground, founded by James Tristan.

From there, more production was only inevitable, and a steady stream of tracks were released on SoundCloud. One such electrifying track released recently is titled More Passion.

More Passion is just under six minutes of acid driven bassline with thumping breakbeat drums and a vocal loop that weaves in and out of the breaks seamlessly. The loop is evocative of nineties Ibiza classic, Fiji by Atlantis and, as the tempo increases, it’s hard not be reminded of other influences from nineties dance music, such as The Prodigy’s famous The Fat of the Land album. More Passion has the same cosmic, near psychedelic, feeling without ever slowing down.

The process of making More Passion seems to have come about as organically as mixing did. ‘I went through a phase where I was literally on Ableton every single day and I got really interested in trying to learn 303. Sounds like acid loops and that kind of thing, so that was just me experimenting and then I just got lucky, and it went in a really good way. I didn’t have a plan in mind, but there are certain elements from maybe different genres that I’m enjoying at the time, and I try and maybe mix a few of them up. I really like the wobby bass and I like to try and combine that with like more of a house progressive trance kind of vibe… Yeah, I like mushing things up to see what works and what doesn’t.’

TeeTee has recently played well received shows this summer including sets at Secret Island Festival in Essex and also at Madruga Festival in Wales. Excitingly, there is also new music on the horizon too. Via ESO TeeTee currently has a new song in the works, currently titled Nokia Core which is set to have a bouncy trance feel and a chopped-up rap vocal, which could prove to be even livelier than More Passion.
