Bristol trio Krooked Tongue are back with a huge bang – they mean business and want you to know it.
Their new single ‘Nothing Ever Grows’, released on 6th September, blasts in with a sense of purpose and energy that you can almost physically feel. The band have just come off a UK support tour with Kid Brunswick and the track feels like it’s soaked in some of that gigging adrenaline. Growly guitar and stark vocals herald its arrival, and the rest of the band then leap into action with thumping drums particularly strong as they lay down an inescapable rhythm.
The little stops and starts, drum breaks and hops of sound and vocals provide a brilliant counterpoint to the overall heavy vibe, making this track eminently listenable. They’ll win plenty of new fans with this one, and please their loyal followers, too.

Thematically, the song has interesting depth, exploring the importance of getting in the right headspace before success will come. Vocalist and lyricist Oli Rainsford describes it as “a right moody geezer of a song”, and I get where he’s coming from; but it’s also a fabulous blast of a song that will get you jumping around. This geezer is one who’ll keep you on your toes, challenging you to get out there and be your best.
‘Nothing Ever Grows’ follows on from the band’s second studio EP ‘Deathproof’, which was released in 2023. That record has earned Krooked Tongue plenty of airplay as well as critical recognition.
Krooked Tongue are Oli Rainsford (vocals, bass), Dan Smith (guitar, vocals) and Harry Pritchard (drums).
