DOVES today announced that they are set to return with their first new music in over four years along with an announcement of a new album set for release in early 2025.

The 10-Track Constellations For The Lonely album is confirmed for release on Fri 14 February 2025 via the EMI North label.

The first single to be taken from the album is the first listed track of Renegade .

We are advised that the was initially first envisioned and rough drafted back in 2020 when the band’s No. 1 album The Universal Want was released. The track formed part of the writing and recording sessions from that time and it is a perfect conclusion to the band’s chapter from that time.

Renegade as a track is a dark and brooding dystopian soundscape with accompanying meloncholny cinematic visuals in the offical music video (see below.) The melody in the ryhthm section gives way to a sense of optimism and hope – overall there is something unmistakably DOVES about this track.

The bands drummer, vocalist and co-songwriter, Andy Williams says: 

“Looking at everyone’s lives over recent years, and considering the news at the moment, ‘Renegade’ feels a lot more loaded in retrospect. We wanted to go for a dystopian feel, thinking about Manchester itself over the next century or so. A totally imaginary thing… ‘Blade Runner’ set in our home city.”

Following on from The Universal Want’s No.1 success, DOVES knew that they wanted to work on the next album straight away and Renegade was the first track to be written for Constellations Of The Lonely and the last to be written in their famed creative rural retreat, Frank Bough Sound III.

Shaking off the shackles of the past and with a renewed determination to overcome life’s hurdles, the new, powerfully intense yet classic DOVES sound is back!

The album was written, recorded and produced by Doves between locations in Greater Manchester, North Wales and Cheshire with additional production from long-term collaborator, Dan Austin.
