They’ve may have been away from the scene for a while, but the East Lancashire punk rockers, The Rafters are back and they mean business with their blistering new single ‘GIMM!CK’
To date, The Rafters have released nine singles in total since their inception in 2019 attaining them almost 20k Spotify streams amongst many other accolades including having their debut single featured on Soccer AM, sharing a stage with The View and earning praise from Jonny Brown (Twisted Wheel) who commented on their single ‘Murder Mile’ “these guys know how to make a tune and play a gig.”
Last year saw the band release the single ‘Glow’ but then making music seemed to take somewhat of a backseat for the band members while they concentrated on other life commitments. However, life issues dealt with, the band are now soaring into 2025 with their latest track and are wasting no time in letting us know that they are a band who we should most definitely be watching (and listening to).
The brand new single clocking in at just over 3 minutes is a frenzied, adrenalin fuelled punk anthem for the masses dealing with issues affecting modern day Britain and the superficiality and fakeness that surrounds us.
There’s a relentless energy to this track filled with frenetic driving drums and infectious guitar riffs. The bass lines hold it all together and the rhythm section is tight, allowing the snarling lyricism to take centre stage and really pack a proverbial punch in the face to modern day life.
The lyrics are scathing and are spat with a degree of venom at the notion that today’s role models are online influencers and the outro takes a swipe at biblical figures highlighting the greed, manipulation and need for power in modern society.
