The Ultra Violets, a Cornish-based quintet, have just dropped their latest single, By The Water, and it’s a heartfelt tribute to the simple, peaceful life found by the sea. Written amidst the chaos of life on the road, the track captures the longing for serenity and grounding that the Cornish coastline provides. With the band often touring big cities and enduring endless travel, it’s easy for life to pass by, making By The Water a meditation on slowing down, reconnecting, and embracing the peacefulness of nature.

The song is about growing up, finding contentment, and understanding what brings true happiness. The sound of waves crashing against the shore is a comforting backdrop throughout the track, evoking the tranquillity of the sea. The poignant closing lyrics, “I just wanna lay my head on your shoulder and live by the water,” encapsulate the simple yet profound desire to be with the one you love, in the place you love. It’s a sentiment that resonates universally, and it paints a vivid image of the comfort and peace found in such connections.

Known for their dynamic mix of Indie, Rock, Pop, and Gospel influences, The Ultra Violets have made waves in the music scene with their electrifying live shows. They’ve graced the stages of iconic festivals such as Boardmasters, Y Not, and Isle of Wight, and shared the stage with notable acts including The Libertines, Feeder and my favourite band McFly.

2024 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the lads. Earlier this year, they recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, teasing fans with new music.

By The Water is a beautiful reflection of The Ultra Violets’ ability to craft emotionally resonant songs. As the band continues to make waves, their music remains a reminder to slow down, appreciate the simple things, and cherish the moments that bring us true happiness.
