“Kehlani gave us a masterclass in artistry, vulnerability, and connection from start to finish delivering an exhilarating and profoundly moving performance”

I think it’s safe to say very few artists dominate the stage quite like Kehlani. On a chilly evening in January at Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse, they demonstrated precisely why they’re one of the best performers inthe industry. The final stop in Europe was more than a concert; it was an exhilarating, immersive experience with soul-stirring vocals, captivating choreography, and Kehlani’s characteristic blend of vulnerability, bad-bitch energy and confidence. With a setlist packed with fan favourites and surprises, this show was a masterclass in stage presence, passion, and connection, leaving Manchester breathless and hungry for more.

The evening began with a DJ set by the adorable Key-rah and an astonishing set by East London-based musician Kwn, who captivated the audience with an appealing blend of soft R&B. The upcoming star captivated the audience almost immediately, putting her all into the performance and making an indelible impression on everyone there. The captivating energy of her hit song “Worst Behaviour” ignited the audience with passion as they sang every word back to her, creating an electrifying atmosphere. As Kwn exited the stage, the excitement in the room only sky rocketed, with fervent chants of Kehlani’s name echoing through the packed-out venue, igniting excitement for what was to come

As the lights dimmed and the intro to “Next 2 U” echoed through the venue, Kehlani made her grand entrance, exuding confidence and grace. Dressed in a striking, all-black outfit, they quickly commanded the stage, immediately connecting with her devoted fans, some of which had queued outside as early as 8 am to see the Grammy-nominated star up close.

The atmosphere was electric as she transitioned seamlessly into“Groove Theory”and “What I Want,” setting the tone for the night. Her setlist showcased her artistic range, moving effortlessly through fan favourites like“Nunya”(shortened) and “You Should Be Here” before launching into a sultry performance of“ The Way.”

Other stand-out moments included the moody and emotional “Toxic,” followed by the energetic “Sucia” and “8,” bringing out her signature smooth R&B vibes. The crowd erupted as Kehlani performed “Can I” and the infectious “Water,” with everyone swaying in unison.

During a poignant moment in their performance, Kehlani paused to engage with the audience, sharing her heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering support. She reflected on her journey leading up to the tour, emphasizing personal growth and the significance of self-love—messages that deeply resonated with her fans. She continued with “When He’s Not There,” followed by a powerful duet of “Clothes Off”with Kwn.

The smooth transition into “Hate the Club” and “Distraction” had the crowd singing along before she delivered a hauntingly beautiful rendition of “Gangsta.”

The intensity then slowed for an emotional rendition of “Everything” and the fan favourite “Honey” before rising again with the seductive “Border” and the gloriously raw “Open.” The audience erupted as Kehlani performed “Crash,” a song removed from previous setlists but now back by popular demand. One of the night’s most stand-out elements was Kehlani’s high-energy choreography. Whether effortlessly gliding across the stage or delivering intricate dance sequences, they made every movement look precise and effortless. Her phenomenal vocals never wavered despite the demanding routines, and she was recovering from the flu, proving their undeniable talent and stage presence. They confidently owned the stage, engaging with fans spontaneously and intentionally.

And finally, that took us to the encore, where Kehlani took her fans on an emotional rollercoaster, beginning with a stunning yet unexpected cover of“Marry You” by Bruno Mars, followed by “Lose My Wife” and the heartfelt “Deep.” The night reached another peak as she surprised fans with a cover of “KEHLANI” by Jordan Adetunji quickly after instructing the crowd how to pronounce her name before launching into “Ring” (Cardi B cover) and the crowd favourite “Nights Like This.” Finally, the grand finale came with “After Hours-Cater 2 U Mix” before closing the night with an electrifying “After Hours” performance, leaving the crowd in awe.

In a nutshell, Kehlani’s headline show at O2 Victoria Warehouse was more than just a musical performance; it was a masterclass in artistry, vulnerability, and connection. From start to finish, they delivered an exhilarating and profoundly moving performance. If you ever get the chance witness her live, do not hesitate. Kehlani is an artist in her prime, and this tour proves that she is only getting better with time.
