Manchester-born post-punk band Spangled are beginning to establish themselves as one of the most exciting emerging acts in the UK. Known for their infectious energy and unmatched stage presence, the four-piece have amassed over 1 million streams worldwide across all platforms, all without major label backing. Following a breakthrough year in 2024, which saw them light up the festival circuit – including a main stage appearance at Y Not Festival and a debut tour of France – Spangled are kicking off 2025 with the release of their brand-new single ‘Perfect Recluse’.
With ‘Perfect Recluse’ Spangled have created a track that takes the listener on an introspective journey.
The intro is interwoven with the calming melody of bird song and the twinkling of a wind chime, which is soon replaced by driving, crashing drums and thrashing guitars, that demand your attention before the comforting yet somewhat vulnerable vocals are allowed to take centre stage.
The track rides along on a wave with each member of the band being allowed to shine in their own right. The instrumentals while heavy and full throttle do not in any way detract from the vulnerabilities displayed within the story telling lyricism.

With three more singles planned for the year, the band is diving into their most ambitious chapter yet. Their highly anticipated Spring UK tour in March and April will see them hit major cities including Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle, London, and Leeds, before finishing with a triumphant sold-out hometown show at Manchester’s iconic Band on the Wall.
After blinding performances at festivals in 2024, Spangled are set to make a return to the festival scene this summer, with appearances at several major UK events in the works. With their signature sound and growing reputation for electrifying live shows, Spangled are continuing to cement their place as a rising force in the post-punk scene.
New single, ‘Perfect Recluse’ is guitar laden anthem for anyone who ever feels like they might be alone.
Ben has said of the track:
“It’s about our mate who had the audacity to travel the world on his own in the space of 2 weeks. There’s a shrine of independence that he takes with him and the attitude that he really doesn’t give a shit about anything at all, ever. He also lost his passport in Hawaii which I thought was pretty funny. We should all carry a bit of that with us if we can, just not in a stupid way. But then again where’s the fun in that?”
Jamie further said “It’s our heaviest tune to date and we’re really proud of it, kind of feels like a step in a new direction, the right direction.
