THE GARAGE GLASGOW

I first discovered Jamie Miller on The Voice UK in 2017, and from the very first time I watched his blind audition, I was captivated by his incredible voice. Fast forward to now, and he was getting ready for his first-ever show in Scotland, accompanied by his family, some of which he had not seen in nearly a decade.

Fans of all ages filled the venue, eager to witness the Welsh singer-songwriter belt his wee heart out at his sold-out show, preparing for an emotional rollercoaster and a night they will remember for the rest of their lives.

The night opened with a captivating performance by upcoming British popstar Maisy Kay, who hadjust finished opening for the incredible Tori Kelly on her “Purple Skies Tour.”Dressed as a fairy with striking black wings and her signature sparkly butterflymicrophone, she fused pop and cinematic styles, creating an intimate yet grandexperience. Tracks like “Butterflies” and “Out Of My Mind” demonstratedher vocal prowess and storytelling abilities, laying the groundwork for what was tocome. By the end of her show, it was evident that Maisy Kay is undoubtedly a force to bereckoned with in the music industry. One of my favourite moments of her set was when she surprised the crowd with a coverof “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush. Next up was America’s Got Talent semi-finalist Alex Sampson, whose heartfelt performance was met with overwhelming enthusiasm. The Canadian singer-songwriter brought an effortless charm and authenticity that immediately connected with the audience.

His set was a perfect mix of acoustic-driven ballads and upbeat pop moments, but his performance of “All That I Know” stole the show. The venue lit up with phone flashlights as his smooth vocals soared over the room, creating a truly magical atmosphere. Another crowd favourite was “Blur,” during which he encouraged a singalong that had the entire room harmonising as if they were part of the recording.

A standout moment was his cover of the smash hit “What Makes You Beautiful” by British boyband One Direction, which had everyone on their feet singing along and screaming at the top of their lungs. Another key moment was his emotional performance of “The Girl Who Cried Love,” where the crowd transformed into a sea of phone torches, adding to the enchanting vibe of the night. By the time his set ended, the energy in the venue was electric, and the anticipation for Jamie Miller had peaked, with the crowd chanting his name and singing along to the tunes in the pre-show playlist.

Jamie Miller

Then, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived. As the opening chords of “Silver Linings” filled the venue, Jamie made his grand entrance, greeted by deafening cheers. From the first note, his powerhouse vocals sent shivers through the room, proving why he’s among the most exciting rising stars in pop music today.

Jamie Miller’s setlist was a perfect mix of anthemic highs and deeply emotional moments, keeping the audience completely captivated – and in tears – throughout the night. “Rooting for You” had the entire venue singing with uncontainable enthusiasm, while “Empty Room” showcased his vulnerability, pulling the crowd into its melancholic beauty. But the most heartbreaking moment came with a stripped-back, acoustic version of “Maybe Next Time.” As he poured his soul into every lyric, the venue fell into a hushed silence, the sheer emotion of his voice reducing nearly everyone – including myself – to tears.

Jamie’s ability to connect with his fans was evident, primarily when he reflected on his path from posting covers online to headlining The Garage, the venue he used to busk outside. The night was an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish, with many in the audience wiping away tears between songs.

Jamie’s ability to connect with his audience was on full display when he paused to express his gratitude, reminiscing about his journey from posting covers online to his first-ever headline tour, something he had dreamed of doing ever since The Voice. Still, he never thought it would be possible.

As his popular song “Here’s Your Perfect” filled the venue, the energy was electric – until a fan suddenly passed out. Jamie stopped the performance without missing a beat, jumped down from the stage, and rushed over to help. It was a heartwarming moment showing how much he cares about his fans. After ensuring the fan was okay, he got back up and launched into the song again, and the crowd screamed every single lyric back to him, which must’ve been incredible for his family to witness.

As the night finished, Alex Sampson joined Jamie onstage for a rousing duet of “It Is What It Is,” sending the energy in the crowd skyrocketing.  Their harmonies harmonised seamlessly, and the audience, enthralled by the irresistible pace, sang along at the top of their voices.  Under the warm glow of the stage lights, fans clapped, cheered, and relished every bit of the spectacular duet.  It was the ideal end to a night complete with raw emotion, soaring vocals, and authentic connection.

With his undeniable talent and growing global fanbase through his TikTok and Spotify channels, it’s only a matter of time before Jamie sells out even bigger venues. If you ever see him live, don’t hesitate – you’ll be witnessing a star who’s only just getting started.
