Frankie Dobson’s debut single ‘Candy’ is an absolute powerhouse of a track that radiates energy and authenticity from start to finish.

Hailing from Bishop Auckland, a small market town in County Durham, Frankie has already made a strong mark on the music scene, having performed at major festivals like the Isle of Wight and shared stages with renowned acts such as Sundara Karma and Vistas. His experience as a session musician and co-songwriter, along with his time spent performing with bands like The Clause and Trampolene, has honed his musical prowess.

‘Candy’ is a perfect embodiment of Frankie’s diverse influences, blending the retro indie melodies of the Northeast with the hard-hitting punk sounds he’s drawn to. It’s a song that kicks off with an electrifying riff, reminiscent of The Futureheads but with a punchy, power-pop vibe that echoes Paul Weller’s iconic energy.

Frankie has a knack for songwriting that feels both raw and refined, and “Candy” proves this in spades. The track is about the frustrating dynamics of a one-sided relationship, where despite always being on the losing side, you’re still the one who keeps fighting to stay. It’s emotional, relatable, and packed with drive.

Recorded at Kempston Street Studios in Liverpool with Chris Taylor – fresh off working with Miles Kane – ‘Candy’ has a polished yet fiery edge. Frankie’s live performances are known for their high-octane energy, and this single captures that same spirit, infusing a sense of urgency and excitement that you can almost feel in the pit of your stomach.

With ‘Candy’, Frankie Dobson has firmly established himself as a rising star in the indie scene. The track offers a taste of what’s to come, blending compelling lyrics, infectious energy, and a sound that’s uniquely his own.

If this debut is anything to go by, it’s clear that Frankie is a force to be reckoned with.
