Exciting emergent punks, Revivalry, mark their EP release and first UK Tour date with… BLUE UNDERGROUND
Releasing their debut Modern Nostalgia EP in physical form and hitting the road again, the trio kick-off their second summer of abandon.
Combining sonic ambition with compassion, the teenage band consider the cruel loss of loved ones to dementia on their latest single.
Real world lessons of life at the sharp end are bundled up in the prodigious playing of teenage three-piece, Revivalry as the emergent melodic punk band open their imminent UK Tour with focus on Blue Underground – OUT NOW. Completing their debut Modern Nostalgia EP campaign by committing all five tracks to Sea Blue 12” vinyl at the same time, their second summer of raw, visceral live experience commences tonight in Sheffield.
The road towards completion of their EP began earlier this year with the release of the caustic-riffed Queens Of The Stone Age-a-like The Town, unleashing Revivalry’s early, stadium-sized intentions as their songcraft continues to develop apace. Following up with the pummelling Two Sips and the fizzing, ‘living for the weekend’ anthem of Kick Off, the sense of devil-may-care exuberance and energy felt a beat stronger at every step.

Discovered playing locally in time to be quickly thrust onto the main stage of Kendal Calling last summer, and not looking a foot out of place in the performance that followed, expectations remain high for Revivalry’s future. Before returning to the same festival this year within a spate of exciting summer festival bookings, including a homecoming at Grimsby’s Spider’s Web, which sold out in under two weeks, Blue Underground brings the band briefly back down to earth. A live favourite, it deals delicately with the loss of loved ones and coping as people in their lives have gone missing.
“Its core idea and meaning began to evolve during dark times, with struggles towards the acceptance of a family members worsening condition and ongoing battle with dementia,” says bassist and singer, Joshua Corfield. “It’s an awful experience to see someone you love slowly forget who they are. How even though they may be physically present, emotionally they cease to show any signs of being. All you can hope for are the few single moments you are able to connect with the person they once were.”
With numbers extremely limited and expected to sell out quickly, the vinyl edition of the Modern Nature EP is available to order now from https://www.musicglue.com/revivalry/shop
Gathering together drummer, Lewis Hubbert and guitarist and vocalist, Ben Townsend into the fold, Revivalry’s tender years deny their outlook on life and music, writing and rehearsing in their hometown of Cleethorpes. Bringing life experiences that have shaped them individually as well as sounds that are unique to each member, the band’s listening list includes Rage Against The Machine and Bring Me The Horizon, as well as indie mainstays, such as Arctic Monkeys and Supergrass.
Those influences combine on stage to create an experience that has quickly won Revivalry a broadening church of fans, ready to celebrate and lament what it is to be young in modern Britain. With four imminent dates to celebrate the launch of the EP, followed by summer festival appearances, all of Revivalry’s upcoming gigs are reconfirmed as follows:
Sat 19 July – Newent. New Heights Festival
Fri 1 August – Kendal, Kendal Calling
Sat 23 August – Alcester, Camper Calling
