Hot on the heels of recent single, With Rob As My Witness, Brighton-based indie/rock band Lovejoy return with brand new single, Pay & Display. Sure to go down a storm live thanks to its infectious and energetic chorus, the song is out today and can be heard here. The track arrives alongside the music video, which sees frontman Will Gold trapped in a lift with a mix of disparate characters, which then begins to fall and chaos ensues… The visuals, which were directed by Aaron Bishop of Noiziac and shot by Director of Photography Harvey Davies also of Noiziac, can be seen here.
The band have said, “No-one owns anything anymore. You just rent it. Rent your music, rent your house, rent your coffee, rent your place in heaven. I guess i’m excited for my subscription-service afterlife”
The four-piece have recently announced their highly-anticipated debut album! One Simple Trick will be released on 3rd October. The band have said of their debut album, “One Simple Trick took four years of overthinking, we are excited to underthink it from now on.”
Showing no signs of slowing down, Lovejoy also announced their US & Canada headline tour for October. They will kick things off in Boston on 18th October, and make their way around 26 other cities including Toronto, Chicago, LA and Dallas. The tour will wrap up on 26th November in New York. See all dates and details here.
These dates see the band return to the US for their first headline tour since their debut North America headline tour in 2023, which sold 25k tickets in just two minutes! Just the year before featured Lovejoy’s first ever live shows as a band in both the UK and US, which all sold out in seconds.
2023 saw the band release their EP, Wake Up & It’s Over, which entered the Official UK Album Chart at number 5. This followed EP, Pebble Brain which was released in 2021 and landed at number 12 on the Official UK Album Chart, based on streaming alone. This is no mean feat for an independent band so early in their infancy. That same year Lovejoy released their debut EP, Are You Alright?, which has amassed 500 million streams on Spotify alone.
