AUTUMN HEADLINE TOUR IS ALMOST SOLD-OUT

“a stand out song jamed packed with love and empathy all set to a fresh narative; something that GHGW seem to be able to do with relative ease time and time again.”

Good Health Good Wealth have been a big hit at this summer’s festival season, with seventeen dates which have taken them from Glastonbury and Truck to the main stage at Reading and Leeds. With their rise further amplified by ongoing support at Radio 1 and 6 Music, the duo now share ‘Beautiful Boy’, the latest chapter from their debut album ‘This Time Next Year We’ll Be Millionaires’ which follows on November 14th and is available to pre-save HERE.

The ‘Beautiful Boy’ narrative picks up where ‘I Forgot’ finished. It finds Bruce Breakey at his lowest ebb: alone, broke and ravished by an alcohol consumption which had taken a giant leap out of hedonism and deep into self-destruction. Yet as the song charts, that downward spiral was halted, in part, by the simple words of unconditional love from his father. Remarkably, ‘Beautiful Boy’ captures that redemptive spirit, moving from its melancholy opening verses into a kind of serene euphoria as the booze haze gradually drifts away and Bruce again notices the beautiful mundane details of everyday existence.

It’s a track which captures the evocative psychedelic edge of The Verve with some of the road trip atmospherics of Springsteen via multi-instrumentalist Simon KuzmickasBruce’s scene-setting lyrics – both intensely vulnerable and at times darkly comic – are delivered with his distinct East London tone, echoing the likes of Baxter DuryThe Streets and Big Special.

Bruce says, “I wrote this song when I had moved back to my mum and dad’s house during lockdown. Initially I was determined to stay at my flat but as things began to get weirder I also began to get weirder too, drinking alone in the empty flat I normally shared with my mates. Dad called me and said to come home, which I did but then it quickly became apparent that I was drinking quite a stupid amount. I went full cold turkey, but blacked out and was woken up by the paramedics.

A few weeks later we watched ‘Beautiful Boy’. It really hit home at that point in my life, a film about a father and son, where the father never gives up on his son even when it would be much easier to throw in the towel. The film, its music, and especially the scene with Charles Bukowski’s poem ‘Let It Enfold You’ inspired this song, reflecting my relationship with my own dad, and with substances.”

‘Beautiful Boy’ represents the Monday in the week-in-the-life narrative of the duo’s debut album ‘This Time Next Year We’ll Be Millionaires’. The album compiles all of their recent singles with the as yet unreleased title track, while the vinyl format will add a handful of voice notes from the duo, their friends and family which adds another perspective to the story that unfolds throughout.
