The first wave of acts for Reading and Leeds Festival 2026 has arrived, and it’s shaping up to be a huge August bank holiday weekend. This year’s initial announcement leans heavily into homegrown, UK talent, particularly for this year’s headliners!
What stands out, though, is how far the lineup seems to have moved from the festival’s rock and alt-rock roots. Guitar bands are still present, but they no longer dominate the top of the bill. Instead, pop, rap and electronic acts are front and centre, highlighting how Reading and Leeds continues to evolve into a more popular, chart-focused event.
Check out these highlights from 2025!
Leading the charge is Charli XCX. Fresh off a run of headline-grabbing releases and high-concept live shows, she feels like a natural fit for the top slot. Expect big hooks, club-ready beats and a set packed with personality.
Also headlining is Dave, whose thoughtful lyricism and commanding stage presence have made him one of the UK’s defining rap voices. His festival appearances tend to balance big crowd moments with more reflective tracks, which should make for a standout headline performance.
Irish post-punk favourites Fontaines D.C. bring grit and intensity to the bill. Their driving guitars and poetic edge add a welcome indie bite to the top tier of the lineup.
For something more sweeping and dramatic, Florence + The Machine step into headline territory once again. Known for powerful vocals and huge, emotional choruses, their set is likely to be one of the weekend’s most visually striking moments.

7-time BRIT Awards winner Raye continues her upward rise with a headline slot that reflects just how big her past few years have been. Meanwhile, electronic heavyweights Chase & Status promise a high-energy closing party packed with drum and bass anthems.
Further down the lineup, there’s plenty to get excited about. Skepta adds grime pedigree, while US indie outfit Geese bring chaotic guitar energy. Role Model offers confessional pop charm, and Jade continues her solo momentum. Dance fans can look forward to Kettama, and rising act Sombr rounds things out, hinting that there’s still plenty more to come in future announcements.
And with this only the first wave, there are still plenty of names yet to be revealed in the coming months. If this announcement is anything to go by, Reading and Leeds 2026 is set to be one of the festival’s biggest and most diverse editions yet.
