SEXY, SIZZLING BEATS AND A FUNKY, SOULFUL SWAGGER

5/5 STARS

The N.S.O. are a four piece Yorkshire band consisting of Reece Howe on Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar, Josh Tallis on Vocals and Lead Guitar,  Sam Barton on Bass Guitar and Jordan Watkin on Drums and Percussion.

The band pride themselves on mixing various influences and genres into their work resulting in a sound that is enticingly fresh and exciting. They combine dark and gritty vocals with light hearted melodies making for a winning combo at every turn.

The N.S.O. were first formed in 2022 and they released their debut single in November of the same year; ‘Hurts Instead’. This was followed up in spring 2023 with ‘Up and Down’

The band have been pretty much gigging extensively ever since including at festivals such as Tramlines, Bunkerfest (Supporting Mark Morris), Doncaster Summer Of Love (Supporting Neville Staple), Be Reyt and Barnsley Live festivals and performing a series of gigs with new music taste makers This Feeling selling out numerous headline gigs.

Following on from the release of their single “Do Ya” which attained the band praise and play by John Kennedy on his Radio X Show,  NSO then went onto gain themselves a lot more fans by virtue of  winning the £1000 cash prize in a  battle of the bands competition. To date they have also amassed in the region of 50k streams across DSP.

Following the release of their fast paced, exhilarating anthem ‘Sunday Club’ in November 2025, the band are now back with their follow-up single and first release of 2026 ‘Release Me’.

‘Release Me’ hits you with its funky bass notes and distinct drumming. The lyricism is delivered with a swaggering yet soulful demeanour, leading you into a bluesy rock and roll soundscape.

Reece and Josh have said of the track:

“The main inspiration behind this track was for it to be played loud in the car with the bass high and treble low, taking inspiration from many early hip hop tracks in the way the drums and bass are consistent throughout almost as though it’s a live sample (testament to our rhythm section! We also took full advantage on this track of having two Vocals throughout, again similar to early hip hop tracks. This one must be played loud with the bass high and windows down!

The meaning or story if you like, inside Release Me is about that bit after a relationship where you are struggling to move on, whether that’s struggling to meet someone new or just caught up on your ex not willing to let go. It’s something most people have probably experienced personally or through family and friends. ”

‘Release Me’ was written by Josh Tallis and Reece Howe. It was recorded at West Homesick Recording Studios and was Mixed/ Mastered/Produced by Federico Telesca.

‘Release Me’is the second track to be taken from the band’s upcoming EP which will be released later this year.
