John Denton is the 15 year olf singer/songwriter from Salford who is alreadfy shaking up the music world with his authenticity and relatability having been featured in the NME, Far Out, BBC NW Tonight, Granada Reports, BBC 5 Live, BBC Radio Manchester and XS Manchester.

Most notably in 2023 John won the prestigious Johnny Marr Award, earning the invaluable support and mentorship of legandary icon himself.

Most recently, John was picked up by ‘The Boss’, Bruce Springsteen, as well as getting the seal of approval from The Edge from U2.

From the above, its clear to see that John Denton is operating with a level of maturity way beyond his years coupled with a songwriting ability that would make even some of the most seasoned performers question themsleves.

The new single to be released by John Denton, ‘Someone Else’s Game’ is an indie anthem based on topics surrounding the coming of age. It captures the emotional confusion of not knowing quite where you fit into the world and constantly trying to figure out who you are amongst the noise of outside pressure of others telling you who you should be.

The melody at first listen is a happy-go-lucky guitar driven rhythm coupled with almost instantly recognisable and cathcy chorus hook. Scratch beneath the surface layer though and you’ll find a heavier, emotional weightiness to the track. The Lyrics when listened to a little more carefully reveal contrasting emotions of a teenager fighting to be heard in a world where they are told how they should be and feel. Ultimately its a raw and powerful song, its relatableness hidden in an upbeat melody.

The track has a classic timeless element to it being set in distinctive indie roots, while also be completely of the now in its narrative. It’s a track that sure to appeal to many especially those of the same generation who will find it entirely relatable.
