Fate has its way of showing up in unexpected ways, and for this young Kent band it showed itself at the surrealist of times.

Tres Kings burst onto the scene in 2025 with three single releases and a shedload of attitude to accompany the music. They surged with a renewed energy and the fresh ideas have shown themselves in the studio and in their live shows.

Frontman Wez King spent a weekend in September playing Trampolene songs to his fellow bandmates, Lacs and Rhu Fuller (bass and drums). He particularly remembers showing them the track ‘Come Join Me in Life’ which he describes as a song that “always gets to him”.

The song itself is as classic a Trampolene anthem as you’ll hear. It’s a raw, poetic spoken word piece that allows frontman Jack Jones to showcase his witty lyricism.

It therefore came as a somewhat of a shock to Tres Kings, when manager Sally Newman told them just the next day that they would be opening for Trampolene on their two London dates in February 2026. Fate was looking down on the three (four) of them that weekend.

Speaking to The Songbird HQ, Wez King said “One weekend I played Trampolene to the lads for the first time. I’ve always been a huge fan of them and the very next day we were told we got the support slot. What are the chances of that?”

The two dates themselves have sold out, with 400 people over the two nights expected to pass over the threshold of The Lexington, London. Albeit a daunting task to play to these numbers, the Tres Kings trio have taken it in their stride.

Talking of sharing the stage with Tres Kings, Trampolene drummer Kyle (Mr) Williams said: “I’m excited to have Tres Kings sharing the stage with us at The Lexington. The guys have a raw indie-blues sound and I love how they perform with drive and purpose”.

He continued: “It’s great to see them back in action, and I’m really glad to have them kick the night off in style”.

Beginning rehearsals just after the Christmas break, Tres Kings are throwing everything they can behind these two performances. They’ve learnt new songs and squeezed as many songs as they can into their set. As well as this, there’s some new merch on offer at the merch stand too.

It’s not come without its trials and tribulations though, as one band member has quit their day job due to injuries and ensuring maximum fitness for both nights. King has also purchased brand new guitar pedals and equipment for the show, and whilst clearing out his work van, managed to throw away the new equipment. Thankfully, he drove back to the skip to find it all still there……

Last year, the Kent trio supported the likes of Huey Morgan and Sleeper, as well as a big slot at the Isle of Wight Festival. Although they have the feeling of a band bursting onto the scene, opportunities like this have actually been a long time coming.

In the original formation of the band, drummer Rhu Fuller was working behind a bar in Maidstone when Wez King played a solo show. Upon hearing the set, he knew he’d found his bandmate and sought opportunity to speak to the man who would go on to become his frontman.

Spotting King sneaking out back for a cigarette, he took the opportunity to leave the bar unmanned temporarily, and offer his and his brothers services. Wez King saw something he liked in Fuller that night, and booked in a practice.

Unbeknown to Rhu‘s brother, Lacs, he was booked in as bass player to practice with King. Several missed calls later, Rhu was able to pass the story along to his brother. In another fateful moment, Lacs had woke himself up after cutting himself on a shard of glass in his bed. Had it not been for this wake up call, the opportunity may have passed them by.

Shortly after, they spent 4 hours at a practice room in Maidstone and put three songs together. Taking the Maidstone and Kent music scene by storm, they played pub gigs on the way to a Dreamland booking, which in itself lead to festival slots.

However, things weren’t completely plain sailing, and a combination of musical differences and members moving from the area caused the band to split.

Five years later, Rhu had seen King play local gigs and rekindled the once dwindling friendship and took the opportunity to meet up once again. Following hours of reminiscing and more celebrations later, family and friends were hounding the three of them to give it another try.

At 5am one fateful morning, Wez King invited the Fuller brothers to record with him at the Albion Rooms in Margate, practicing together and writing their 2025 hit ‘Scuba Diver’.

Now, the band are back together and pulling themselves into an upwards trajectory. This momentum gave them the exposure they needed to grab the attention of Trampolene’s management.

Tres Kings manager, Sally Newman said “Tres Kings got this gig because of the time and effort they’ve been putting in. They’ve been making outstanding music which has caught the eyes and ears of Trampolene’s management and promoters. They deserve this an every opportiunity that comes their way.”

As well as ‘Scuba Diver’, they also released the fuzzy and fast-paced ‘Antenna’ and the dream fuelled and soaring ‘My Favourite Letter is K’ with the promise of new material being debuted at these shows.

Trampolene themselves are also in the middle of a resurgence following a fairly quiet 2024 and 2025. They’re roaring back into action, supporting the likes of Republica and Public Image Ltd. There’s also the threat of new music on the horizon from them too.

If you’re lucky enough to be attending one or both of those shows, make sure you’re down early to catch Tres Kings at their roaring best, and of course the ever-brilliant Trampolene for what is sure to be some “were you there” performances in years to come.
