Welcome to The Songbird which is a proudly non-profit music news, new release reviews, live gig reviews and interviews magazine founded by Sally Newman in 2019.
Our aim here at The Songbird is to be a new music platform intended to celebrate and champion bands and artists and to help spread the word to the world regarding all of the marvellous new music out there that is being created.
Run by a passionate team of new music enthusiasts with diverse backgrounds in the industry sector including artists, producers, journalists, record label owners, photographers, managers, promoters, booking agents, radio show and podcast hosts, we are well placed to put you and your music in the spotlight. We strongly work on a ethos of collaboration over competition which is why you’ll find many of our team participating in other endeavours outside of their work on The Songbird and we are always happy to provide help and support to anyone looking to gain knowledge and experience in the sector.
In addition to the magazine we hosts weekly radio shows and podcasts as well as book and promote our own live shows twice monthly at The Libertines HQ, The Albion Rooms in Margate and Carl Barat’s nightclub in the town: Justine’s. We are also proud to bring our Songbird Showcases to festival stages including the Isle Of Wight Festival where we are in our 4th consecutive year and our showcase during the Great Escape in Brighton, plus our many events and festivals throughout the year with our partners at Bubblebrain Records in Jersey.
As well as promoting and supporting our own events we are also committed to promoting and helping to spread the word about others gigs, tours and festivals across the UK and beyond, keeping you up to date with all the latest happenings in the new music world.
Our mission is to create a new music platform for all new music lovers, offering a wide and diverse range of content covering various and varying aspects across the board. We aim to showcase not only the outstanding talent on offer from bands and artists, but we also have a passion for showcasing the talent of other individuals in the sector such as reviewers, live gig photographers, interviewers and more.
The Songbird is also proud to be able to offer you our dedicated music PR services gaining our clients extensive radio plays and features across the globe. Please refer ‘Our Services’ and ‘Testimonials’ pages for more information on this.
In addition to the above, we are also Spotify playlist curators updating our playlists weekly with all of the best new releases around. These are sorted into month of release for ease of reference.
