Today (Friday 11th June) sees the return of the Fife band SHAMBOLICS with their invigorating new single: “Dreams, Schemes & Young Teams”.

Shambolics is made up of Darren Forbes, Lewis Macdonald, Jake Bain and Jordan McHatton and “Dreams, Schemes & Young Teams” also sees new member Scott Williamson enter the fray on keys to become the fifth official member of the band.

“Dreams, Schemes & Young Teams” follows a string of acclaimed releases from the band including last year’s incendiary “Love Collides” and “Sandra Speed”. The band also delighted fans during lockdown with a series of classic cover versions in their distinctly dreamy style, including Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Everywhere’, The Weekend’s ‘Blinding Lights’, ABBA’s ‘Mamma Mia’ and The Rolling Stones ’Sympathy for the Devil’; finding a raft of new fans with their inspirational reworkings. In addition, they have enjoyed repeated plays on Steve Lamacq’s BBC6 Music Show, as well as receiving accolades from the likes of Gigwise & Louder Than War with Clash Magazine praising that they are “soaring guitar pop that recall everyone from The La’s to Blossoms and beyond.”

The new track from the lads certainly does not disappoint and is a joyous little ditty bringing the listener out of the darkness of the past year and into the light of an optimistic future. Its a track that celebrates the good times gone by and focuses on those yet to come. Its a euphoric track loaded with a timeless indie quality, with frenzied guitar solos and a huge anthemic chorus that’s just begging to be sung out loud and we fully expect you to hear “Dreams, Schemes & Young Teams” igniting the crowds as they take to the stage at TRNSMT Festival where Shambolics will be playing this Summer.

Forbes from the band has commented of the new track:

“It’s essentially a song of hope….a song about the ‘Young Teams’ who want to make it out of the schemes & see what’s out there. The artwork to the track is the place where we all first met as teenagers when we were the young team drinking, having a carry on and planning on taking on the world.”

The single was written by band members Darren Forbes and Lewis Macdonald, was recorded at 7 West Studios and the bands very own Eggman Studios in their hometown of Fife and the track was produced by the esteemed Chris Marshall (Gerry Cinnamon, The Dunts). The track is also the first official release on the bands very own record label Eggman Records.

Listen to Dreams, Schemes and Young Teams here now.

1) Congratulations on the new release! The new track was recorded at your very own Eggman Studios and is the first official release on your own record label Eggman Records. How does that feel and how did it come about?

Thank you !! It’s great to have it out on our own label and only within 24 hours of release it looks like it’s went down a storm! The track was recorded and produced by Chris Marshall at 7 west studios and Eggman studios. He’s a great guy to work with!

2) There are so many fantastic artists coming out of Scotland at the moment like The Snuts, Dictator and PG Ciarletta on the independent scene, who have you been listening to lately and who would you recommend?

All them 3 you mentioned are great. I really like Gerry Cinnamon there’s such an honesty in his lyrics I think that’s why he is as big as he is today. I’ve been working with a new band in Eggman Studios called Pandas who are sounding unreal I reckon they’ve got a bright future! Rianne Downey & Brooke Combe are 2 great Scottish talents as well.

3) During lockdown you treated your fans to several cover versions. Is this something you plan on continue doing?

There’s 1 cover that we done at our st Luke’s, Glasgow show. It was the last show we done before lockdown. We’re gonna continue doing that live. Those who where will know. It was a screamer.

4) There’s so many great venues in Scotland, what would be your dream venue to play and why?

Definitely Barrowlands. Always heard of how iconic a venue it is. Always said I’m never going in it til we play it. That goal is still in place.

5) You’ve shared the stage with some big names such as Kyle Falconer. Who would you most like to share a stage with and why?

Paul McCartney would be unreal, he is the man. Bit off topic but I’d love Nile Rodgers or Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) to produce us when we’re big. So obviously playing on stage with one of them on a track we’ve worked on would be a dream come true.

6) Custom Kicks Hull designed an amazing pair of Adidas trainers in your honour recently. Tell us, have you ever worn them out?

Nahhh never wore them out they are just kept as a gift. Shoutout to the custom kicks team, legends!

7) Now that lockdown is easing, what are you most looking forward to that you’ve got coming up?

We’ve got a lot of gigs coming up towards the end of the year but TRNSMT is most definitely the 1 were really looking forward to it.
