DON’T TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER

This is the new single from Sun Atoms, and having listened to it a few times now, I’m definitely a fan.

It’s got quite a pedigree coming from a wider body of work, “Let There Be Light” that’s been produced by Peter Holmstrom from The Dandy Warhols, and mixed by the legendary Steven Street who’s worked with Blur, The Smiths and New Order. This is out on 1st October 2021 via The Acid Test Recordings.

This song has such a distinct and well thought out sound, the intro starting with analogue synth sounds being arpeggiated – not too obvious. But there to make its presence felt. The vocals are low pitched but there’s a higher unison vocal, to carry the melody. There are various instruments here to really fill it out, flute, tambourines, shakers… It’s just gorgeous… You will get lost in it when you hear it, that I can guarantee.

The video is really cool too! Morphing animated animals, hand drawn artwork… I like a good animated video, and having seen a fair few the need for this is obvious as not everyone can get together in one place to shoot a video obviously, this shows that the creative industry is resilient in pooling their resources together to make something happen…

This is the kind of song I could listen to on an early morning walk. It makes me feel nostalgic for many things, and I can’t lay my finger on it. It will come to me eventually.
Until then, I’m going to listen to it again.
