FEVER band are a Humberside five piece consisting of  James Harrod, Mitchell Capes, Joe Gray, Sam Howell and Ellis Keogh. The band formed in 2019 and since then have been on a whirlwind journey of success including an immediate sell out tour and on-air support from  Radio X’s Gordon SmartBBC 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins and Steve Lamacq. Despite the obvious restrictions placed upon them so soon after their formation, FEVER were not deterred and made frequent online appearances during lockdown giving their fans lockdown sessions and covers of influential bands, including The Coral and The Housemartins

Last Friday 5th November saw the new release from FEVER “My Imagination” on Very Clever Records. This single comes off the back of their monster 17 date UK tour in September.

The tour saw the Humberside five-piece kick off with a set at Glastonferret before becoming the first band to play at Hull Bonus Arena since the venue’s re-opening after the pandemic. Fever then went onto play 7 more dates with Blossoms, including 3 nights at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town, 4 headline shows of their own, and 2 festivals. They then capped off their mammoth trip around the UK with a monumental sold-out hometown show at Hull Social on 23rdSeptember.

The new track definitely has The La’s/The Coral/Cast vibe to it which has now become synonymous with FEVER. It’a a slower more melancholy sound to that of their previous tracks “Jungle Man” and “International Dream” though which we think successfully demonstrates the band’s ability as songwriters and as accomplished musicians able to perform a variety of sounds.

The track starts of with a slow strumming guitar and almost spoken lyrics, The line “Why does everybody fall for the same mistakes?”and “I need to feel real love” perhaps gives the notion of regret of the past and how there is a feeling of optimism in the air for the future. Overall its a beautiful melody from the five piece that has left us wanting to hit the repeat button and play it over again.

Of the new track “My Imagination” lead singer Harrod says,

“My Imagination is a song about craving escapism from the responsibilities in life that can sometimes consume you, it’s about craving freedom and letting go of everything holding you back from achieving it.”

The boys certainly aren’t resting on their laurels and have the following lives dates set up for the remainder of this year.

Fri 12th – Manchester, Deaf Institute (supporting Pacific)

Fri 10th – Manchester, Academy 2 (supporting Fuzzy Sun)
