SINCE THE DOG DIED
Stockport based band Fuzzy Sun released their six track EP on the 23rd November entitled ‘Since The Dog Died’ along with their third single taken from the EP ‘China Pearl’.

The four piece band consisting of Kyle Ross on vocals, Raffaele Pani gutlitarist, George Fitzgibon keyboard and guitar and Lewis Jobson on bass, describe the EP as a new chapter for them, as a coming together to mix new sounds. Kyle emphasises on the EP as being “Lyrically, I think it’s a snapshot of the inside of my mind at a very specific point in time.”
The EP serves as a continuous piece of music with an overriding narrative arc which seamlessly ties the tracks together and making the whole EP glide along during listening.
‘China Pearl’ delivers a punch on first hearing with a heavy and fast movement from the band throughout the song. It takes their psychedelic rock to another place. Speaking of the single frontman frontman Ross explains
“Musically we wanted something quite aggressive, so we used processed drum machines combined with big distorted riffs…..We almost wanted it to sound electronic and mechanical which again relates to the subject matter of the tune. We experimented with a lot of soundscapes, and vocoders, using reversed guitars and a lot of delay pedals rather than using synths which was a lot of fun in the studio.”
The EP has you ears pricked throughout picking up sounds that take you to a new place constantly. ‘Moviestar’ uses the synth which again makes you float through the track.
The band have the ability to pick up the pace and drop the pace throughout the EP but still keep the effortless flow throughout it which is something that Fuzzy Sun are able to do at ease.
The band tipped by everyone’s NME’s 100 list as well as selling out tours in Manchester Gorilla, Academy 3 and London’s Camden Assembly the band are more than ready for their headline tour in December
