C’mon People (We’re Making It Now) Don’t Stop Now” Mix
Dust off your desert boots and pull on your smartest parka because two of the best haircuts in Rock n Roll have gifted us with something majestic.
Richard Ashcroft and Liam Gallagher present to you “C’mon People (We’re Making It Now) Don’t Stop Now” mix. Watch the official lyric video here now.
“The result of old songs given a new lease of life? It is life-affirming, eloquent and a stirring combination.” – XS Noise
As many fans will know, the original version of the tune was released on Richard Ashcroft’s Solo Album ‘Alone With Everybody’ In the year 2000. Naturally the album went straight to number one, it’s Richard Ashcroft. “C’mon People (We’re Making It Now)” turned out to be one of Liam Gallagher’s personal favourite songs on the record, 22 years later they decided to do something about it.
Liam is cited as saying
“I first heard ‘C’mon People’ when I kidnapped Richard and Kate for the weekend in Formentera, 20 odd years ago, I don’t think he’d even finished writing it. I’ve loved it ever since and play it round the house on many a drunk occasion. It’s an honour and a privilege to sing it. LG x”
Fans went wild after the pair’s acoustic version of ‘C’Mon People (We’re Making It Now)’ appeared on Richard Ashcroft’s 2021 album “Acoustic Hymns Vol. 1”. The song went on to become ‘Record of the Week’ and part of the Daytime playlist at Radio X, A-listed at Radio 2, and playlisted at Absolute Radio.
It’s a feel good song, a song to shout in your best mates face and sink a few guinesses too at your favourite boozer. Liam’s vocals add some‘what for’ to the record, something we know he’s not short of. It feels symbiotic, like he was always supposed to be on there. Once you’ve heard them sing together, you need more. Some people will always prefer the classics and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, others… will happily embrace a little extra personality, especially in the form of Twitters greatest, LG.
Whilst discussing the song and Liam, Richard says
“It’s this brilliant, natural thing and he knows that. There are special reasons and musical reasons that it sounds the way it does, he brought his musicality and added something so it works on multiple levels.”
As a fan of one of both artists, you may have seen them on tour together in recently years, they are two of those rare artists in this world who give it just as much live as they do on record. You can tell how much respect they have for each other just by how they introduce each other to the stage, they’re proper mates.
If you’re looking to hear “C’Mon People (We’re Making It Now)” live in 2022 you can catch Richard Ashcroft in at the Highest Point Festival in Lancaster on May 12th, Nottingham’sSplendour Festival on July 23rd and CarFest North in Cheshire on the weekend of July 22nd-24th.
Also, I have no inside scoop but I don’t believe for a second we won’t be seeing Richard Ashcroft and with Liam Gallagher together on that stage at Knebworth in June….
Fingers crossed, parka monkeys.
