YOU DON’T BELONG

At just 21 years old Andrew Cushin is already well on course to being propelled into the stratosphere.

With some legendary high profile supporters in his corner such as Noel Gallagher, who has not only championed the young Geordie, but has also produced and played guitar on his track ‘Where’s My Family Gone’ and Peter Doherty who is similarly enamoured by Andrew’s flair and who has signed him to his Strap Originals label and who has further taken him on tour with The Libertines.

Andrew Cushin has today (Friday 11th Feb) released his debut single on Strap Originals called ‘You Don’t Belong’ and you can to the new track HERE.

‘You Don’t Belong’ is the title track to Andrew’s debut four-track EP, which will be released on the Strap Originals label on April 22nd. You can pre-order / pre-save the forthcoming EP HERE.

The EP will consist of the following tracks – 1. You Don’t Belong 2. Yeah Yeah Yeah 3. Catch Me If You Can 4.Runaway

‘You Don’t Belong’ is the first release from the EP and it’s a definitive change of pace for the young Geordie. With its heavily laden indie-rock guitar riffs, and new found intensity, it’s a track that showcases another side to Andrew from his more familiar acoustic offerings. It’s a change that I whole heartedly embrace. This the music that I have been waiting for Andrew to make, the music that is going to get the crowds going mental when played live!

‘You Don’t Belong’ is also a noticeable change in lyrical style for the singer/songwriter. It speaks of the wider struggles of young men who desperately battle issues such as identity, belonging and mental health, rather than dealing with issues on a more personal level and I think this is going to translate well and provide a sense of unity amongst fans.

‘You Don’t Belong’ was recorded at ‘The Albion Rooms’ in Margate and was produced by my good pal and resident man on the mix desk; Jason Stafford.

Andrew says of the new release;

This track is the start of a new journey for me. We’re on a new record label, have a new band, and are ready to release catchy and energetic material. ‘You Don’t Belong’ still holds the lyrics of a typical ‘Andrew Cushin’ song but the sound of synthesiser, indie riffs and big drum patterns take this record somewhere else. It’s a new sound that I’m hoping everyone comes to love.”

The official video for the track has also been released today. The video was filmed in Bedford and was directed by filmmaker and photographer Andrew Willsher. You can watch the video to ‘You Don’t BelongHERE.

In addition to the single release and the upcoming EP release, Andrew is due to play a huge homecoming show in Newcastle this summer as guest to Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, and will also be hitting the road with The Sherlocks in April.
