MIIRRORS are an alternative Pop duo based out of Glasgow’s East End. After years of friendship and a shared love of all things music, Chris and Craig put their musical minds together to create a sound they felt was lacking in the Scottish music scene – thus MIIRRORS were born.
The duo look to capitalise on their shared knowledge of music production, writing and performance to bring a new style of immersive entertainment that can be enjoyed by the masses.
The duo have just released their debut single ‘Look Out’ here’s what we thought….
This is Afrobeat via Scotland!!! Wow! What a beat.
The groove follows the trend of Afrobeat that’s hitting the dance floors especially post pandemic – subby 808 bassline, warped synth lead in the background, possible electric piano and big kick and clap to get the party started.
The vocals are the giveaway in terms of the origins of this track – Glasgow! But this would be a bop if dropped in a club in Accra or Ibiza.
Talking of which the mix on the vocals and the track as a whole is a masterpiece – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – production mixing and mastering is as important to a song as the song itself. If you want it to stand head and shoulders above the rest do it right. Having this on my earphones the vocals swirled around me, and I could hear the vocals have been processed and sampled in part to make more instruments for the track – it’s simple and effective lots ear candy here.
Given that we are in the middle of a heatwave this is the perfect track for it.
