MONA LISA
This is a great slice of blues rock from Kent based Wez King, this song has got that 60s swagger!

The guitars are suitably crunchy, giving an intro riff that repeats itself through the verses, and Wez gives a fantastic vocal performance on this. I love his falsettos in the chorus, it gives the song a whole different energy.
The one thing I want to talk about is the arrangement. The comparison to 60s rock is intentional – you can hear the influence of doo wop, and blues in the rhythm section – it wouldn’t surprise me if that was the case, that 6/8 time is underused nowadays and I’m glad to hear it here.

Having listened to this song probably for the sixth time today, the chorus is stuck in my head:
“Sweet Mona Lisa
Man, it’s hard to please ya When I lose, over again I lose, over again
And I’m getting close to the edge
Is this the end.. l lose, over again..” – brilliant!

Dear Wez. If you need a keyboard player to play some piano on this… just holler.
