Smokin Eskimo are a 3 piece originals bands hailing from Bilston, West Midlands. Their music combines a blend of blues & rock styles, catering to a devoted fan base.
The band’s music lyrically covers aspects of everyday modern life ranging from deep and meaningful thoughts of what is the meaning of life through to lazy carefree thoughts of taking a drive through the Countryside in summertime.
The band are heavily influenced by 60s psychedelic rock and blues, 90s britpop with a smattering of jazz and funk. This gives Smokin Eskimo a multi-genre sound that doesn’t allow them to fall into one specific category. They are defiantly genre-less and we like that about them. You can always expect the unexpected from this band and will always be kept on your toes with no run of the mill mediocrity here.
Smokin Eskimo today (2nd June) release their 10th single ‘The Universe Is Kind To Me’.
‘The Universe Is Kind To Me’ is 3 minutes and 12 seconds of pure rock n roll energy – the new track is somewhat of a change of pace from what the band have previously released. We’re told it’s heavily inspired by the late great Wilko Johnson, and we can totally see this this with its raw gnarly vocals, fast paced belting drumbeat, booming baseline and high energy guitar riffs. It a high octane belter that’s for sure!
Recorded at Foel Studio with Mike Bew in October 2022, ‘The Universe Is Kind To Me’ is the follow up single to ‘The Happy Wanderer’ which was released in April and which gained the band successful reviews and radio airtime across the globe.
Smokin Eskimo are currently writing more new songs and look set to continue playing numerous gigs & festivals this year including Manchester, Shrewsbury, Staffordshire and Sheffield. Later on in the year, they will also be heading to Camden to play the legendary Dublin Castle for the first time, a gig which is surely not to be missed.
Smokin Eskimo also have also been busy in the studio with plans for a debut album being in the pipeline.
