Wouldn’t It Be Easier
Evan Williams is a 22 year old singer-songwriter from Thanet. Having grown up on the coast, his songs are spiked with the highs and lows of life in a seaside town. Evan’s lyrics and his swelling baritone voice have a maturity way beyond his tender years, Catch him live while you can still see the whites of his eyes.

In 2021 Evan released his debut single When The Shutters Rise Again, a lockdown ballad that was described by GigSlutz as “a soulful, stunning debut”. The following year he released the vulnerable and introspective I’ll Stick Around, which was chosen by Apple Radio DJ Matt Wilkinson as one of his ‘Hidden Gems’ of 2022 and he is now back with his latest offering ‘Wouldn’t It Be Easier’

Can you sum up what it’s like to live in the UK right now in a 3 minute pop song? Take a bow Evan Williams, who, with his new single ‘Wouldn’t It Be Easier’, has delivered a blistering state of the nation cry of rage every bit as powerful as Weller’s ‘This Is The Modern World’ or Costello’s ‘Shipbuilding’ were in their day. If you’re asking where are today’s angry young men, Evan Williams is reporting for duty.
‘Wouldn’t It Be Easier’ was released through the Strap Originals label on Wednesday 31st May. It is the second in a trio of singles to be released over the next 3 months.
Backed by a whip tight band, EvanWilliams, comes across like a Medway Iggy Pop, voices his despair at humanity’s wanton self-destruction.
Says Evan: “The new decade had brought with it a newly re-elected Tory Party, the looming threat of a third world-war, and the high-profile suicide of Caroline Flack; all set against the backdrop of a climate crisis and a deadly pandemic. The world felt scary, and the future scarier still. Wouldn’t it be easier if the light never shone through your blinds?”
‘Wouldn’t It Be Easier’ was recorded live at The Albion Rooms In Margate and produced by Jason Stafford (Trampolene) .The song is available to buy or stream here: https://found.ee/WouldntItBeEasier

Evan is performing at Kendall Calling Festival (Tim Peaks Stage) July 28th.
