Jacko Holland is a multi-instrumental singer/songwriter originally from the market town of “Leominster , Herefordshire on the border of Wales, but more recently having relocated to Margate in Kent.
After playing the very first open mic night at The Libertines HQ; The Albion Rooms in the town, Jacko found himself falling in love with and frequently returning to Margate to play at numerous and varied gigs as both a solo artist and with his former backing band “The Magic Men”.
The latest track to be released by the singer/songwriter ‘Cannibals’ blends elements of indie folk, 60s garage rock and bluesy guitar riffs interspersed with wailing harmonica melodies throughout.
Its a fast paced, upbeat offering ladden with intricate, toe tapping instrumentals and post punk esq story telling lyricism.
The track was written by Jacko whilst he was living in Hereford last year and it was recorded shortly therafter when Jacko enlisted a group of local musician friends to join him in the studio for a session.
This certainly comes across within the track with its raw live gig appeal. Despite being recorded it hasn’t lost any of its real and honest element of “friends jamming togeher” vibe and appeal. Its the sort of track you want to be involved in, you can’t help but try keep rhythm with it, its the sort of track that brings people together.
Jacko has said of the track:-
“The tune itself is about surrounding yourself with the wrong kind of people and the isolation that often comes with it, referring to these people as ‘cannibals’ who “bleed you dry” and “take over your home”.
This single also features 3 bonus (b-sides) tracks made up of various demos and live recordings.
