JOHN DENTON – SOMEONE ELSE’S GAME – EP RELEASE PLUS SINGLE RELEASE – ‘YOU STILL STAY THE SAME’

John Denton is a talented singer/songwriter from Salford who has been making waves in the music scene with his heartfelt lyrics and captivating melodies.

Despite being only 15, John has been featured in NME, Far Out, BBC NW Tonight, Granada Reports, BBC 5 Live, BBC Radio Manchester and XS Manchester.

His journey took a significant leap forward in 2023 when he won the prestigious Johnny Marr Award, earning the support and mentorship of Johnny Marr himself. He was also selected by ‘The Boss’ himself, Bruce Springsteen, as well as getting the seal of approval from The Edge from U2.

And most recently his biggest announcement was his signing to Modern Sky record label.

John Denton today (8th May) releases his debut EP ‘Someone Else’s Game’ which promises to deliver more of the emotive and powerful music that his fans have come to love. John’s solo work marks the next exciting chapter in his musical journey. His first release, ‘Not the Same’ has already achieved over 20k streams together with national acclaim.

John’s say’s that the lastest song to be lifted from the EP ‘You Stay The Same’ is

“a song about going through tough periods of time and personal challenges, and looking back for a moment at the people around you who haven’t turned against you in those times and have stayed the same. For some reason the first person that came to mind thinking about it was my dog!”

And with lyrics like ‘I’ve been hiding for too long now and there’s another load of people to take the blame, but You Still Stayed The Same’, it really emphasises the notion of growing up and being brave enough to own your mistakes and realising the difference between people who are genuine and who are not.

Musically, the arrangement is acoustic – stripped back and laid bare. It was recorded in one take and from that you can really tell not only the level of skilled musicianship on show but also the level of emotional maturity. John Denton is an artist who has found his niche and confidence to boldly perfom such a raw and honest tune.

The melody flows along pleasantly with a strumming guitar and gentle story telling lyricim. Its balanced and emotive in equal measure all wrapped up in a dreamy melody.
