Blossoms continue their run of dance floor-ready releases with their shimmering new single ‘Meet Me In Love’, featuring backing vocals from Declan McKenna and a starring role for Maya Jama in the accompanying video.

Debuting the new single on Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders, Blossoms have dived head-first into full-throttle disco.

Frontman and chief songwriter, Tom Ogden, has a habit of producing unconventional love songs and relationships viewed from unusual angles. ‘Meet Me In Love’ is no different.

Blossoms take Myles Kellock’s glistening synth-driven rhythms to the next level with skyward melodies. Strap in for a feel-good summer vibe.

So often the way for Blossoms, Charlie Salt’s bass work is the unsung melody maker, locking down the groove from the off. His rhythm section accomplice, Joe Donavon, forces you to your feet with.a predictably propulsive drum beat.

Joshua Dewhurst’s chiming, jangling guitar work weaves intricate textures into the offering, responding to Ogden’s vocals and giving them a classic British-indie pop feel.

The accompanying video depicts the Stockport band performing in front of an enthusiastic, sparkling Maya Jama. The dark exterior of a large room, reminiscent to an empty club, is laden with flashing lights and shining mirrorballs.

The mirrored, disco vibe doesn’t end there. It’s all over the synth, drum kit and guitars. Blossoms are forcing disco upon you whether you want it or not. Ogden asks Jama to “Meet me in love” as the pair are swaying and singing along to the anthem.

Ogden and Donavon revealed to Jack Saunders that an announcement could be coming as soon as this week, hinting towards a new album and a new era for the quintet.

Ogden revealed the track was recorded completely live and they also told the host that they’ve begun embracing collaborations. Their last release, ‘Joke About Divorce’ featured backing vocals from Rick Astley.

The band returned this year following the release of their fifth studio album ‘Gary’ towards the tail end of 2024.

With an album announcement imminent, it surely won’t be long before they hit the road too. When they do, I’ll be seeing you in the field or venue for a feel-good disco.
