Mark Donachie is a singer / songwriter from a small town in the west of Scotland.
He debuted his first single ‘Promise’ in May, 2025 – a song he wrote when he was just a teenager but decided to release several years later as his starting point. The track is the perfect driving song, equipped with introspective emotional storytelling and warm melodies.
Donachie has a naturally emotive tone alongside a softness and sincerity in his delivery that feels raw and vulnerable and entirely relatable.
Ahead of him supporting Kyke Falconer of The View later this year, Mark is now gearing up for the release of his second single ‘Don’t Hang Up’.
‘Don’t Hang Up’ is a gentle melody with an upbeat story telling narrative set to a strumming guitar. Its beauty comes from its simplicity and its easy listening appeal.
It’s a tale as old as time, about new love, filled with hope, optimism and self- doubt in that exhilarating whirlwind of not knowing quite where you stand, but hoping they just might feel the same way.
The track has an overall feel-good appeal to it and it’s certainly one for those who believe in love and the exciting possibilities that it brings.
Mark has said of the new track:-
“I had this idea to write a song about when you really like someone and you just want to speak to them all the time. It’s those feelings of when you don’t want to hang up the phone, speak for hours and you get those little butterflies in your stomach when you see their name pop up on your phone. I think sometimes when we start speaking to someone new, at least for me anyway, I get ahead of myself and start planning a future. This song is about getting lost in that.
When I got the idea in my head, I immediately knew it would be something I would write on guitar, which at the time, I couldn’t play well, if at all. I remember playing the first chord in the chorus on repeat with a strumming pattern and a melody came shortly after. From there, it was like the rest of the song just fell out of the sky.“
‘Don’t Hang Up’ was written and composed by Mark Donachie and was recorded in London by Liam McCluskey at his studio TEN87 in Tottenham Hale. Liam also produced, mixed and mastered the track.
Beyond music, Mark is the author of the 2023 poetry collection ALLEYCAT, with his second book ON THE PATH which he released in 2025.
Whether through song or verse, Mark Donachie is carving out a space where vulnerability meets art. He is skilled at connecting emotionally with his audience. His work has generated millions of views across social media and he has sold copies of his books and had his music streamed all around the world.
