Just six months after their acclaimed debut hit No.3 in the UK charts, The Molotovs today (Friday 4th September 2026) announce their second album, ‘Welcome To Urbia‘.

The first single, ‘Urbia’, is out on 4th September 2026, with limited edition CDs and cassettes made available on pre-order. The album is set to follow on 9th April 2027. 

The news comes on the eve of The Molotovs’ UK tour of the same name. Just a handful of tickets remain for shows in Leeds and Glasgow, as well as a second night at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, London, added due to huge demand.   

The single ‘Urbia’ opens the second phase of the band for siblings Matt (18) and Issey (20) Cartlidge, who, in just a year went from busking in the street to chart success, an unforgettable performance on The Jonathan Ross Show and an arena tour support slot with Yungblud.

‘Urbia’ was recorded at the famous Konk Studios in north London, founded by The Kinks, and produced by Tony Hoffer, who has worked with the likes of Beck, The Kooks, M83 and Belle and Sebastian.

Matt said: “When I wrote it, it just immediately felt like something different and was steering in the direction that I wanted to go for this next album. I really wanted to shake it up.

“My influences have also broadened, the more we played. When we went into the studio, I’d only recently written it so it was all pretty fresh – it’s got a real energy.”

The song has a huge chorus, with Matt and Issey’s vocals coming together.

Issey said: “It really blossoms. It’s quite moody and driving, quite industrial, and then you get to the chorus that kind of opens up. It’s sweet.”

‘Urbia’ is a statement of intent for the band, inspired by the towns the band have seen during their relentless touring – nearly 700 shows in the last five years.

Following a chart battle with Lily Allen and Olivia Dean, The Molotovs hit No.3 in the UK album charts in February with debut album Wasted On Youth (Marshall Records). 

The announcement of the second album comes as The Molotovs’ headline ‘Welcome To Urbia’ tour begins, and ahead of support slots with Razorlight, including a show at OVO Arena Wembley on 4th December.
