We’re on the precipice of the release date for Blossoms sixth studio album ‘Songs From The Wedding Cake’, but that doesn’t stop them releasing another massive track.
Debuting ‘Husband’ this evening on Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders, Blossoms can now turn their attention to the release of the album in two weeks time.
Frontman Tom Ogden emphasises the role of the husband and their imperfections and mistakes in his lyrical content. The Stockport five-piece continue the playful, upbeat nature of the rest of the album, as Myles Kellock continues to excel on the synths.
Alongside the new single arrives its accompanying video, depicting Skins star Jack O’Connell in the role of husband, cooking up a cottage pie dinner. It was also confirmed that ‘Husband’ will feature on EA SPORTS FC 27.

et for release on October 2nd, this is the 4th single ahead of Blossoms hotly anticipated sixth studio album, ‘Songs From The Wedding Cake’. This instalment follows ‘Joke About Divorce’, ‘Meet Me In Love’ and ‘Additional Driver (feat. Declan McKenna)’.
It appears as though the shackles have been loosened from Blossoms as they approach this album in a similar vein to ‘Gary’. The songs feature pop-focused rhythms and grooves, and the whole things is swimming in disco vibes.
Ogden and Kellock are joined by bandmates Joe Donavon (Drums), Charlie Salt (Bass) and Josh Dewhurst (Guitar).

They’re also set to take the new album, as well as old classics, on tour in November and December with a run of arena shows.
With ‘Husband’ concluding the single releases, we now have a pretty clear picture what Blossoms will sound like now. The songs are confident, but they haven’t lost the lighthearted nature that saw ‘Gary’ become such a success.
With the album just around the corner, it will be interesting to see if it fulls suit of the singles, or if this is just the beginning.
