Scottish songwriter Charlie Clark releases debut solo album ‘Late Night Drinking’ on physical formats for the first time in November 2026:

One of the most talented and underrated songwriters of our time, Clark effortlessly fuses tracks dealing with life’s harshest realities with a wry and cheeky grin. He somehow manages to take taboo subjects of addiction and its destructive nuances into an upbeat melody. He sings of life misspent, of a past that almost consumed him and manages to turn it around into a catchy tune that will resonate with many without in any sense being maudlin or self pitying.

‘Late Night Drinking’ is available on CD and two vinyl variants (Lemon and Ginger) pressed locally in Scotland by Seabass Vinyl. It was originally scheduled to be released in 2021 on a different label, but unfortunately a physical release never came to fruition. Now released with Last Night From Glasgow, the 11-track album showcases Clark’s talent for balancing deeply personal themes of grief, addiction and loss with warmth, humour and optimism. Driven by uplifting, guitar-led indie pop with shades of psychedelia and folk, the album finds light in life’s darker moments, reminding us that the only way out is through.

Recent single ‘Don’t Have A Cow, Man!’ offers a particularly poignant insight into this approach. Influenced by the upbeat sound of 1960s pop, the track tackles addiction and relapse: “I wrote some of ‘Don’t Have A Cow, Man!’ before I moved back to Scotland from LA and finished it when I came back in 2019 to care for my father, who sadly passed shortly after. It’s about relapsing after a long period of sobriety and being brought to my knees with addiction. It’s also heavily influenced by 60s pop music, so I wanted to take such a heavy topic and have a sense of hope with a catchy rhythm.”

Originally from the Isle of Lewis, Clark was co-founder and guitarist of Glasgow-based indie-pop band Astrid. He spent a decade living in Los Angeles, working as a music producer and promoter, before returning to Scotland in 2019. Throughout his career, he has been involved in a range of musical projects, including Scottish supergroup The Reindeer Section and, more recently, psychedelic rock band Yama Rama, who are scheduled to release an album with LNFG in 2027.

‘Late Night Drinking’ is Clark’s debut as a solo artist. Recorded at Lost Volcano Studios in Uig, the album was produced by Jason Shaw of Fuzzface Studios and mastered by Mark Gardener of Ride. Charlie Clark recently toured with Ethan Gold across the UK. Charlie supports The Fat Lady Sings at Òran Mór in Glasgow on 30 November 2026.
