Review written By Louise Hinchliffe

The Brookes are a thrilling four piece brought to us from Grimsby. The youngest member is 18 (Dylan Youles on the drums). The fantastic vocal range is delivered by 21-year-old lead singer (Bonge Keal) who also plays the guitar paired with both 21 year old (Fraser Macdonald) and 21 year old Bass Guitarist (Elliott Gant).

The Brookes have now transitioned from fiery punk rock into their nuance 70’s sound. This clearly illustrates their progression and maturity since the lads first formed.

Spaceship Rodeo – really is a cocktail of your favourite ingredients from The Cure, Kings of Leon and Nick Cave. Demonstrating the importance of contrast and variety within their sound and styling.

Spaceship Rodeo was released on the 26/07/2019 and I’ve got to say it’s been put firmly on my playlist. This single has a real Kings of Leon vibe to it yet original and catchy. Playing it once wasn’t enough for me, I couldn’t believe what I was listening to and didn’t want the track to end. The guitar intro instantly grabbed me, but once the vocals kicked in I was speechless. It’s a clear  winner for any Indie club wanting to get people on the dance floor.   They’ve also managed to demonstrate the importance of contract and variety within their sound and sense of style. I’m really excited on what the future has got in hold for these guys and being based up North myself I will definitely be going along to see them perform live.

Spaceship Rodeo has now been released across all online platforms and alongside this release they are also running a campaign to achieve maximum exposure. The lads will be embarking on a post release tour to promote their new track, be sure to check out their merchandise too.

The Brookes Spaceship Rodeo release party is in Yardbirds Club, Grimsby on Friday the 23rd August – To get your tickets head to ( Tickets are priced at £5.50.
