“HOOKS JABS WORDS”

Whether on the road as a performer, or on the run from the law; Belowsky has lived a life on-the-edge strewn with encounters with celebrities, rock stars, gangsters and villains.

Belowsky is no stranger to the music industry having opened for The Charlatans at the world famous Cuckoo Club, performed at CBGBs in New York City , at the Sunset Strip in LA, and he also hosted the Death Disco in London.
Further Belowsky hosted the Tony Wilson Experience in his native Manchester and has worked with Andy Bell (Ride/Oasis) on various artistic projects. Currently residing in Perth, Australia, Belowsky has even become an established media personality Down Under too!
“Hooks, Jabs, Words” is the brand new single released today 05/03/2021 by Belowsky, and remixed by the inimitable Danny Saber (Black Grape/Agent Provocateur).
The new track is being released via Alan McGee’s “It’s Creation Baby” label, which features Belowsky and Saber facing off against one another on a track that’s a guaranteed to be a knock-out!
Belowsky admits that the new track has been a “labour of love” for him having taken a period of some twenty years to perfect, with it reaching its final finished form in a studio session in LA with Danny Saber when he laid down the rhythmic hooks and jabs to counter Belowsky’s impactful words.

Belowsky first met Saber back in 2007, when he was introduced to him by Alan McGee at the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood.
Finding an undeniable chemistry between them, initial recordings for “Hooks, Jabs, Words” began the very next day, but would not resume for another 10 years after Belowsky found himself forcibly extricated and banned from the US for out staying his Visa!
Moving forward ten years and Belowsky returned to L.A and hooked up with Saber once more.
Belowsky says that “Hooks, Jabs, Words” is written in dedication to Muhammad Ali, a man who he cites as his “inspiration and all-time hero”. Rooted in fond recollections of listening to fights with his grandfather as a child. Infusing inspiring words extracted from a volume of poems about Ali with improvised lyrics of his own invention, the lyrics are a winning mix of humble adulation and personal reflection.
Speaking about the track Belowsky says:
“I’ve been writing boxing poems for years. I have a love for the Heavyweights and the history of boxing which takes you on a journey through time, fashion and politics of the day. As a poet I feel I have a unique perspective on the fight game. I always remember being with my grandfather, huddled around a radio listening to Muhammad Ali fights from the States, and most of all I remember the fight of the century – Ali versus Frazier from Madison Square Garden. It all felt so magical as the radio crackled and Ali got knocked down then rose back onto his dancing feet.”
“Hooks, Jabs,Words” is 4.32 seconds of a pure, outstanding dance anthem mixing words and beats together in perfect body moving with abandonment tempo. It’s joyous, uplifting beats, and genius lyrics with repetitive catch lines, mean its the kind of song that we’d expect to be played loud in every bar and club this summer as people rejoice their new found freedom. It’s definitely got a retro vibe reminiscent to us of those heady, feel good days of greatness from Primal Scream when they released Screamadelica and we expect this track is capable of doing great things.
This latest offering from Alan McGee on his It’s Creation Baby label also demonstrates his diversity in sourcing the best new music and proving that it is not a genre specific label with this being an entirely new musical direction to what we are used to hearing from other labels.
