NOW YOU’RE GONE

Sovereigns are a 4 piece punk rock band from Essex/London who first formed with friends Bennie and Elliott after they met studying in 2020. After finding out that they shared a lot of common interests they decided to start making music together with the idea to make a band. They then went on to recruit Milo on bass and Owen on drums.

Sovereigns quite literally burst onto the scene when they supported BILK at a secret London show back in October. Thereafter, followed a string of other live shows including Camden’s Dublin Castle and at Flashback Records in Mile End which completely sold out in just 12 minutes!!

The band’s live shows in their own words are “absolute chaos”. Their high octane live performances coupled with their unique DIY approach to gigs in the most random places and allowing fans to attend their rehearsals, has led to the band attaining quite the cult following.

2022 started off busy for the band with them heading up North to play a show at Manchester’S Big Hands bar in January followed closely thereafter with their biggest headline show to date in their hometown at Shoreditch’s trendy “The Road Trip and The Workshop” from there they went onto Brighton to play at the Rossi Bar and then onto Liverpool where they supported AVALYN. This is just the start for this band who have plans to tour a lot more this coming year. You can catch the Sovereigns at their next massive London gig at the Old Blue Last on the 20th April 2022. As well as touring, Sovereigns also managed to release a debut single “Now You’re Gone”.

Coming in at a tidy two and a half minutes long, this fast paced, rocking track is a little slice of perfection. Its delightfully in your face with its heavy, sonic guitars and uptempo drum beats. The vocals while punk in essence also bring in a happy more indie vibe to the whole proceedings. For a debut its a blinding start and leaves us eager to hear more from this exciting new band. Apparently we shouldn’t have long to wait as the band have announced on their socials in the last couple of days that more new music is imminent.

Now You’re Gone‘ was recorded at the Tunbridge Wells Forum and track has already received praise and attention from the likes of BBC Introducing who selected it as their “Weekly Vibe” and new music John Kennedy who played it on his Radio X show.
