BETTER OF YOU

At just 17 years old, Anglesey born Megan Wyn has already put her stamp firmly on the music scene after releasing her first single ‘Polaroid’ and cramming in endless gigs and festivals up and down the UK.

‘Polaroid’ was released on New Year’s Day 2021 and marked the start of a very successful year for the young singer/songwriter. Now approaching 20,000 streams on Spotify alone, ‘Polaroid’ has been championed by the likes of BBC London’s Gary Crowley and BBC Wales’s Adam Thomas Walton. Megan also featured in CLASH magazine as part of The Great Escape Online Festival as well as appearing at the Isle Of Wight Festival, on the This Feeling stage, and the iconic River Stage. Such high profile exposure led to Megan being noticed by the likes of The K’s, Trampolene, Andrew Cushin, Lock-In, ROLLA and Jonny Brown from Twisted Wheel who all invited her to perform support slots.

After what can only be described as a whirlwind year, Megan Wyn is now delighted to be back with her second single ‘Better Of You’.

‘Better Of You’ is another instant classic from the young welsh star. Its a tune that betrays her tender years and showcases what a true contender for those big stages and festival main stages she is.

The vocals to this song are simply stunning and you can really tell that Megan’s voice is professionally trained as she descends the vocal scales with ease. The lyrics are thought provoking and atmospheric and the melody and riffs evoke a feel good summery vibe; it’s easy to imagine laying in the sun listening to this track.

The song is incredibly well put together with the chorus lines being instantly recognisable to the listener even upon first listen. It’s one of those songs that is going to be an instant classic.

Megan says of the new track that she was inspired by the way that movies portray a toxic male lover. she further explains of the reasoning behind the track:

“I wanted to capture the true emotions that come with falling for someone who isn’t very good for you, leading you to self doubt and over-think whilst portraying that falling for someone toxic is very bittersweet. I wrote the song at the start of November of 2021 after experiencing a similar situation. I decided to write the song as I knew that many other people are going through or have gone through a similar situation to the one that I was in.”

‘Better Of You’ was recorded at Orange Sound Recording Studios in Penmaenmawr where Megan’s first single was also recorded and was Produced/Mixed and Master by Russ Hayes who was also the man behind the first release.

Megan has said of the recording process:

“Russ has worked with some of my favourite artists such as Catfish and the Bottlemen and just totally gets my vision for my songs. I was also lucky enough to have two of my good friends play on this track, Rhys Bentley, who played the drums and James Brocklehurst, who played the lead guitar parts.”

Megan showcased her new track last night upon its release date at EBGB’s in Liverpool when she supported The Kairos. It’s a sure fire bet that Megan made many new fans last night and with the new single attaining over 1k streams on Spotify alone within the first 24 hours of release, we’re sure that her star will continue to rise in this coming year.
