DON’T YOU WORRY CHILD
This song had its tenth anniversary on the 12th September, and I chose it for many reasons.
First of all it’s an out and out banger.
There’s nothing you can do or so to make me change my mind.
This is an EDM classic and while I’ve never been to a festival before but I can just imagine the energy of THAT drop, it’s like Mercury rising in the way it just builds….
The beginning starts off with some really nice synth chords – the key to a good dance track (No pun intended) is to get something going where the crowd will recognise it as soon as they hear it isolated…
The first time I heard this song I can just remember thinking – who the hell wrote this???
Let’s break down the lyrics for a tick.
John’s voice comes in “There was a time I used to look into my father’s eyes, in a happy home, I was the king upon a golden throne…”
First of all it’s a song about growing up, where the things that you knew to be constant are gone – the things that you had are a distant memory and now you have to deal with an unknown future, but his father says in a reassuring way, “Don’t you worry child, see heaven’s got a plan for you…”
This could be translated into a religious song too, and for me that’s where it’s a spiritual connection for me, music can induce a spiritual lift, lord knows I’ve experienced it many times before myself but that’s a different blog entry discussion for another day, but… this song makes me want to dance like no one’s watching or just sit and cry tears of joy.
Long into the future, I reckon this will be remembered as a dance classic.
