The Publics are the 3 piece alt indie rock band from Mansfield, combining catchy riffs, powerful choruses and atmosphere by the bucket load to create stadium worthy huge anthems!
In just 5 months the group consisting of Josh Porter on lead Vocals and Guitar, Elliot Stephenson on Lead Guitar and Ebony Broughton on Keys/Vocals have gone from playing a tiny gig in a neighbours garden to a high-profile support slot with The Reytons.
The Publics sold out their Nottingham headline show in their own right, following the release of their single ‘Marathon in Heels’ and this, undoubtedly helped to establish and cement them as a household name.
Following that sold out headline show and several high-profile support slots, including with: The Reytons, Corella, Deco and Overpass, next wave favourites, The Publics, now release their brand-new single ‘Young Hearts’.
Influenced by 2000’s Indie powerhouses such as The Killers and Arctic Monkeys, ‘Young Hearts’ builds on the sound of The Publics previous releases combining aspects of 90’s dance and current female Pop vocals, such as Olivia Rodrigo, with the distinctive indie-rock core. The single is inspired by a friend of the band appearing on Channel 4’s ‘Teen First Dates’. The track recounts the date (which didn’t go very well) with a perspective focusing on both hope and heartbreak!
The song was recorded at Electric-Bear Studios in the band’s hometown, Mansfield, which has recently undergone a huge renovation. The studio improvements help further elevate The Public’s reimagined sound as ‘Young Hearts’ aims to propel the band into the limelight of the UK Indie Rock scene.
