The Rogues are a 5-piece indie rock band from Newport, South Wales who are quickly cementing their reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging bands on the new music scene right now.

The band is made up of Andrew Flannelly on  Lead Vocals & Acoustic Guitar, Alex Ainsworth on Lead Guitar & Keys, Ben Slade on Bass Guitar,  James Mundy  on Drums & Percussion and  Rhodri Eley on Rhythm Guitar & Backing Vocals.

Formed in 2022, the young 5 piece band have been making waves ever since with their second single ‘Skinny Dipping’  from 2023 being featured on the BBC Radio Wales A-List for 3 consecutive weeks and also being featured on national television during Match of The Day

The band’s debut EP ‘1963 (Live at Rockfield Studios)’ was recorded in October 2023 with legendary producer Nick Brine (Oasis, The Stone Roses, Bruce Springsteen, Ash & The Darkness)  The lead title track from which entered the Official UK Physical Singles Chart at No. 3 within a week of release.

2025 was a busy year for The Rogues seeing them being named as one of This Feelings ‘Big in 2025’, as well as gracing big stages like the Isle of Wight Festival and supporting indie legends Dodgy and Welsh rockers Cardinal Black as well as selling out their own headline gigs.

Their single release ‘Oh Gena’ from November 2025 spent 2 weeks on the BBC Radio Wales A-List plus praise from the likes of Travellers Tunes who said:-

“Despite the showmanship on display [the] playing has a universality to it which renders it accessible to the masses……Flannelly […] with his soulful indie vocal wraps himself around the licks with a grace that enriches the soul and allows us mere mortals to peer into their world. Everything about this screams, “Come and love this band”.

And ASBO magazine:-

‘Oh Gena’—a tune that feels like “one of your all time favourite tracks” from the very first listen—The Rogues are cementing their status as a vital force in the UK’s burgeoning indie scene.”

The band capitalised on this momentum with their follow-up single releases seeing them being championed once again by BBC Radio Wales on their A-List as well as announcing a headline tour with indie tastemakers This Feeling and support slots with the likes of Kyle Falconer.

The brand new EP from the band ‘Last Summer’ features four tracks, being the previously released singles of ‘New York’ and ‘Throw It Away’ plus the previously unheard tracks of ‘Foolin’ Around’ and the title and focus track from the EP ‘ Last Summer’

The opening title track, Last Summer’, is an explosive coming-of-age track packed with melody and a sense of nostalgia, reflection and longing. Looking back on a time that felt simple and full of life, and wanting that carefree feeling again.

‘Throw It Away’  is a track about putting everything into something and getting nothing back, but pushing forward anyway. It’s an anthemic indie-rock song with a message of ambition and resilience.

Foolin’ Around’  Is a high paced indie rocker with an upbeat toe tapping melody with a nod to the 1960’s mod era mixed with a modern swagger. Lyrically the track is about being pulled towards someone who mirrors your flaws, even when you know it’s messy. It’s that tension between chaos and connection.

‘New York’  is a track about feeling stuck in routine and craving something more. That urge to escape and believe there’s a bigger, freer life out there. It’s a raw and honest offering with stripped backed instrumentals letting the vocals really shine and hit home. The whistle in the chorus adds a swing element to the overall production, really befitting the song’s title. The guitar riffs and solos in the mid section are exquisite and allowed to really run with the baton before the final wistful yet powerful final verse kicks in for the win.

The band have said of the EP:- “This EP feels like a real step forward for us. It captures where we’re at now, both in sound and in how we approached recording, experimenting more in the studio and pushing things further than ever before.”
