Cat Elliott is a multi-talented London-based singer songwriter & producer whose music is hard to categorise and pigeonhole into one specific genre, everything about her is uniquely just her!
Whilst rooted in alternative indie pop & contemporary folk, Cat’s music effortlessly blends raw lyrical honesty with rich melodic textures & a certain dramatic flair.
A true independent spirit, Cat has carved out her career as a self styled recording artist & passionate performer. Her artistry reflects a restless, nomadic soul & a keen storyteller’s eye. Her songs tell deep, boldly original tales of the ups and downs of life with a healthy dose of wit & pure unabounded energy to deliver the message home through the medium of music.
Growing up, Cat was captivated by musical theatre, drawn to its drama, emotion & big sound. At home, prog rock icons like Pink Floyd & Genesis sparked her love for musical complexity. As a teenager she was drawn to the raw gutsiness & bold lyrics of the likes of Alanis Morissette. Later she was inspired by the innovation, theatrical flair & musical brilliance of bands like Radiohead, Meat Loaf & Queen.
These influences have all come together to fuse with Cat’s own vision, voice & unconventional style to create her own unique and distinctive sound.
Both on-stage & in the studio, Cat embodies the very spirit of alternative indie pop & indie folk: bold, authentic & unafraid to experiment.
The latest single to be released by Cat Elliott ‘Romance Junkie’ is a playful folk ditty with an uplifting message of not to take yourself too seriously, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. With violin strings and plucking guitars keeping rhythm, it’s a fast paced happy-go-lucky tune refusing to be lost in the more traditional melancholy of the style and subject matter. It’s a sing it out loud rousing call to arms for anyone who has ever found themselves on the receiving end of unrequited love.
Cat has said about the track:-
“I had been in a bit of a low place because of yet another unrequited crush, and my spirit just needed to burst out with something raucous and fun.. to poke fun at myself for being such a hopeless Romance Junkie.
I remember the chorus coming to me out of the blue and just playing the most clichéd chord sequence and just yelling at the top of my lungs and feeling a rush of joy to be back in the fun zone with music!”
Cat has played a whole plethora of gigs and venues; from country shows, festivals and private parties to busking inside museums and shopping centres. She has also supported the up and coming folk star, Luke Jackson, who is himself a favourite support act of Jools Holland and she further played Summerfest 2024 which saw her playing on the same stage as The Hoosiers, Liberty X, East 17 and Sweet Female Attitude.
Cat Elliott has also enjoyed frequent radio plays, most memorably for her being a full interview and live performance in the studio on Christopher Lanes, “On Air Acoustic” radio show.
