Riding on the wave of the 90’s Britpop resurgence, DODGY have joined in the hype and have today (1st May) released a brand new album ‘entitled Hello Beautiful’, on Flip Flop Records.
Formed in the late 1980s, Dodgy went on to become one of the defining bands of the 90s British guitar boom, releasing five albums, selling more than two million records and landing 12 UK Top 40 singles. Their enduring hit “Good Enough” remains one of the most played songs on British radio of the last three decades.
Still fronted by original members Nigel Clark, Mathew Priest and Andy Miller, the band continue to evolve while retaining the optimism and melodic instinct that first connected them with audiences more than thirty years ago.
In addition to the album release the band will also be heading out on a spring tour that will see them play at a series of independent venues across the UK.
The band, renowned for their warm melodic and uplifting music, made the announcement following the success of new singles “It’s Not The End”, and comeback single “Hello Beautiful” – which delivered the band’s first Top 40 chart appearance in over a decade.

The album “Hello Beautiful” is out now. The album’s 9 tracks encapsulate those unique harmonies and addictive feet-tapping riffs that made Dodgy the quintessential summer festival band from the Britpop era and yet with the new album comes an older reflective deeper quality that you would expect from such leading veterans of the British indie scene.
Hello Beautiful is a defiant offering from the britpop stalwarts proving that they aren’t just about churning out some nostalgic offering in return from some quick cash. Oh no, this album is from a band who have grown and emotionally expanded since their inception, resulting in them bringing to the table a much richer deeper sound . This record jusfies them being up there with other great 90’s icons.
From the get-go the opening track of ‘Hello Beautiful’ reminds you of exactly why you loved this band in the first place. They’ve lost nothing of their sun soaked sound and effortless harmonies. Everything is in there that you’d hope for and expect, but this time the band has grown wiser and from that there’s a richer emotional vein to the overall sound. This comeback track from Dodgy sets the tone for the whole album, earning the band their first Top 40 appearance in over a decade, it marks their return to their rightful seat at the top table of best of British guitar music.
Other tracks on the album such as ‘It’s Not The End’ is another nod to their classic sound, build around an easy melody and seemingly effortlessly abiliity to make something so poignant yet uipbeat out of the everyday. These tracks don’t feel like singles, but more likes statements of intent of how this band are back to stay!
The most stand out track however, has to be ‘Summer Forever’ a sunshine drenched anthem that glides along the nostalgic crest of the wave while managing at the same to time feel brand new. Its classic Dodgy and sure to be another hit from the band that is going to be soundtrack of many a summer over years to come.
‘Summer Forever‘ received its exclusive debut on Virgin Radio yesterday with Chris Evan’s on his morning breakfast show. The band entered the studio like they were walking onto the set of TFI and the band playing live only added to this atmosphere. Dodgy were undeniably sublime and it was no surprise when Chris Evan’s asked them to play it again. It was clear this wasn’t a staged or premediated move, this was a pure honest reaction to how good the band and indeed this track were sounding. Very high praise indeed!
Other tracks on the album “The Likes of You And Me” and “Looking Back” show a more reflective mood hinting at times of the past but without ever losing that upbeat, feel good vibe. There’s a maturity that comes with this album, but it doesn’t dull or lessen the sound at all, in fact quite the opposite. The intervening years have allowed the band to really focus enabling them to deliver an unprecented quality.
Each track on the album is a stand alone, stand-out track with each having its own uniqueness and identity, yet crucially the heart of each core remains unmistakably ‘Dodgy’
This album isn’t about a band looking back on good times past, but rather a band with a lived in experience looking forward as to what’s to come.
And they won’t have to wait long either as they start their UK tour tonight in Grimsby reaffirming their long-standing dedication to independent venues and their continued support for the grassroots circuit that first launched their career. This isn’t a full circle moment, but rather a nod to the people that made them and them repaying the favour.
Hello Beautiful is a return to greatness for the band reminding us of why they meant so much to us in the first place with their uplifting, joyous melodies and neverending optimism and lust for life.
Singer Nigel Clark said: “We approached each track as its own individual, with honesty at the core while still shaping an overall message, all united together by our trademark backing vocals and harmonies. Our time in the studio reflects a renewed energy and a deeper sense of pathos – this is a wiser, more evolved Dodgy in 2026. Making the album has been a passionate and rewarding process, embracing a new level of technicality that keeps the music feeling fresh and dynamic.”
Drummer Mathew Priest added:“Now feels like the perfect time to release “Hello Beautiful”, following what’s been an incredible couple of months for the band with recent shows and new singles.
“There’s a real sense of excitement and momentum around us right now, and we can’t wait to take these new songs out across the country, especially to the venues and circuits that played such a vital role in our early days.”
